FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; January #, 2014—Santa Fe, NewMexico—The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum announces DebbieBrient as its new Director of Museum Advancement. BrientjoinstheGeorgiaO’KeeffeMuseumfromTrinityUniversity inSan Antonio, Texaswhere she held the position of assistantvice president for University Advancement and oversawcorporateandfoundationrelations. BrientwasformerlythedirectorofPhilanthropyfortheTexasprogramofTheNatureConservancywhere sheoversaw fundraising teams inDallas,Houston,AustinandSanAntonio.

Along-timeadmirerofGeorgiaO’Keeffe,Brientattendedtheopening of O’Keeffe’s first retrospective show at the LosAngeles CountyMuseumofArt in 1988. Shehas visited theGeorgia O’Keeffe Museum many times since its opening in1997andwasoneof the first tovisitMs.O’Keeffe’sAbiquiuhomeafteritopenedtothepublic.

Brient was born and raised in Kansas and received a Bachelors of Science degree in secondaryeducation from the University of Kansas. Before entering the non-profit world, Debbie heldmanagement positions at broadcast television affiliates in San Antonio, Albuquerque and Los

Angeles.Shehasstudied,livedandworkedinCostaRica,PuertoRico,andSpainandisbilingualinEnglishandSpanish.As Brient enters the Santa Fe community and begins work, theMuseum prepares for its latestexhibitions “Georgia O’Keeffe and Ansel Adams: The Hawai‘i Pictures” and “Georgia O’Keeffe:AbiquiuViews,”bothtoopenFebruary7,2014.
