FLUSHING MACHINE OR WATER SUPPLY AND DRAIN HOSES.
4. CLOSE BOILER ISOLATION VALVES. VALVES SHALL REMAIN CLOSED FOR DURATION OF
IN-FLOOR MANIFOLD FLUSHING PROCESS TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF BOILER WATER
AND DAMAGE TO ALUMINUM HEAT EXCHANGER.
5. MAINTENANCE FACILITY SYSTEM FLUSH (MANIFOLDS 1 THROUGH 7):
A.APPROXIMATE VOLUME: 270 GALLONS.
B.ISOLATE ALL BUT ONE MANIFOLD AND FLUSH WITH CITY WATER. FLUSH WITH FLUSHING
MACHINE OR 1-1/2” HOSE FROM WASH BAY CONNECTION. MONITOR DRAIN AND CONTINUE
FLUSHING UNTIL DISCHARGE IS CLEAR. REPEAT PROCESS FOR OTHER MANIFOLDS.
C.ADD CLEANING SOLUTION AT RECOMMENDED CONCENTRATION USING FLUSHING MACHINE.
D.CIRCULATE THROUGH ALL SEVEN MANIFOLDS SIMULATANEOUSLY FOR EIGHT HOURS
MINIMUM.
E. ISOLATE ALL BUT ONE MANFOLD AND CIRCULATE CLEANER FOR ONE HOUR MINIMUM.
REPEAT PROCESS FOR OTHER MANIFOLDS.
F. REPEAT STEPS D AND E ABOVE.
G.FLUSH ALL SEVEN MANIFOLDS SIMULATANEOUSLY WITH CITY WATER USING FLUSHING
MACHINE OR 1-1/2” HOSE FROM WASH BAY CONNECTION. CONTINUE FLUSHING UNTIL
DISCHARGE IS CLEAR AND pH IS EQUAL TO CITY WATER.
H.CLOSE DRAIN VALVE AND TOP OFF SYSTEM WITH CITY WATER.
6. BRINE BUILDING SYSTEM FLUSH (MANIFOLD 8):
A.APPROXIMATE VOLUME: 22 GALLONS.
B.FLUSH WITH FLUSHING MACHINE OR 1” HOSE FROM WASH BAY CONNECTION. MONITOR
DRAIN AND CONTINUE FLUSHING UNTIL DISCHARGE IS CLEAR.
C.ADD CLEANING SOLUTION AT RECOMMENDED CONCENTRATION USING FLUSHING MACHINE.
D.CIRCULATE FOR TWENTY-FOUR HOURS.
E.FLUSH WITH CITY WATER USING FLUSHING MACHINE OR 1” HOSE FROM WASH BAY
CONNECTION. CONTINUE FLUSHING UNTIL DISCHARGE IS CLEAR AND pH IS EQUAL TO CITY
WATER.
F. CLOSE DRAIN VALVE AND TOP OFF SYSTEM WITH CITY WATER.
7. BOILER LOOP SYSTEM FLUSH:
A.APPROXIMATE VOLUME: 10 GALLONS.
B.PROVIDE TEMPORARY MANIFOLD TO CONNECT FLUSHING MACHINE DISCHARGE TO ALL
THREE BOILER INLETS. PROVIDE TEMPORARY MANIFOLD TO CONNECT FLUSHING MACHINE
RETURN TO ALL THREE BOILER INLINE PUMP SUCTION MATING FLANGES.
C.FLUSH EACH BOILER SEPARATELY WITH CITY WATER UNTIL DISCHARGE IS CLEAR USING
BOILER ISOLATION VALVES TO ISOLATE TWO OF THE THREE BOILERS.
D. ADD CLEANING SOLUTION AT RECOMMENDED CONCENTRATION USING FLUSHING MACHINE
AND CIRCULATE THROUGH ALL THREE BOILERS SIMULTANEOUSLY. CIRCULATE CLEANING
SOLUTION FOR FOUR HOURS OR LESS AS RECOMMENDED BY CLEANING SOLUTION
VENDOR FOR ALUMINUM HEAT EXCHANGERS.
E. IMMEDIATELY FLUSH ALL THREE BOILERS SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH CITY WATER USING
FLUSHING MACHINE. CONTINUE FLUSHING UNTIL DISCHARGE IS CLEAR AND pH IS EQUAL
TO CITY WATER.
F. DO NOT EXCEED 30 PSIG WATER PRESSURE AT BOILER. HEAT EXCHANGER MAY BE
DAMAGED BY PRESSURES EXCEEDING 30 PSIG.
8. PURGE WATER FROM ENTIRE SYSTEM USING COMPRESSED AIR REGULATED TO 30 PSIG
MAXIMUM. THE INTENT IS TO REMOVE AS MUCH RAW CITY WATER FROM THE SYSTEM AS
POSSIBLE TO MINIMIZE MINERAL CONTENT AND CONTAMINANTS. THE MAJORITY OF THE WATER
MUST BE REMOVED TO ACCOMMODATE THE MINIMUM VOLUME OF PURE GLYCOL TO BE ADDED
TO THE SYSTEM. THE CONTRACTOR MAY PERFORM A TEST FILL USING CITY WATER TO
CONFIRM (OPTIONAL). SEE STEP 12 BELOW.
9. REMOVE EXISTING CITY WATER MAKEUP CONNECTION AND INSTALL GLYCOL MAKEUP SYSTEM.
10. REINSTALL STRAINER SCREENS, BOILER INLINE PUMPS, AND BRINE BUILDING INLINE PUMP.
11. PRECHARGE EXPANSION TANK TO 8 PSIG.
12. CONNECT FLUSHING MACHINE TO INLINE PUMP DISCHARGE MATING FLANGE OF MAINTENANCE
FACILITY PIPING SYSTEM (MANIFOLDS 1 THROUGH 7). VENT AIR FROM THE AIR SEPARATOR OR
ANOTHER SUITABLE HIGH-POINT VENT. USE FLUSHING MACHINE TO ADD 125 GALLONS OF PURE
GLYCOL TO SYSTEM VIA MANIFOLDS 1 THROUGH 7. MONITOR OPEN VENT TO CONFIRM ONLY
AIR OR WATER DISCHARGES (NO GLYCOL).
13. FILL REMAINDER OF SYSTEM WITH DEIONIZED WATER, UP TO 175 GALLONS MAXIMUM. IF THE
SYSTEM IS STILL NOT FULL, TOP OFF WITH 40% GLYCOL SOLUTION. ESTIMATED TOTAL SYSTEM
VOLUME IS 300 GALLONS.
14. INSTALL REPLACEMENT MAINTENANCE FACILITY SYSTEM INLINE PUMP HWSP-1.
15. PROVIDE INITIAL FILL OF GLYCOL FOR GLYCOL MAKEUP SYSTEM TANK. USE 40% GLYCOL
SOLUTION.
16. OPERATE SYSTEM FOR ONE HOUR MINIMUM TO AID MIXING OF THE GLYCOL AND WATER. VENT
ANY REMAINING AIR FROM THE AIR SEPARATOR.
17. CONFIRM SYSTEM GLYCOL MIXTURE IS BETWEEN 30% AND 50%.
