Gender in wheat agricultural project: Experience of Sudan

Gender profile in ARC/Sudan

The female ratio is about 38% of the total staff.

% of female in the senior positions are 6%, 20% and 32% of professors, associates and assistants (2013) in compare to 4%, 16%, 22% (2007).

About 20% of Ph. D. holders and 43% of M. Sc. holders are females.

The number of female among the research assistants and researchers are 51% and 52%.

Based on the results of trials to provide optimum and economically feasible options for durum wheat production under the “karu” soils conditions in the River Nile State , the National Crop Husbandry Committee recommended:• A range of seed rate of 125-165 kg/ha (52-69kg/fed) •A range of N level of 110-150 kg N/ha (46-63kg/fed).
