LarkLanehasbeenanareaofgreatcharactereversinceitwasfirstnotedinastreetdirectoryover125yearsago.Duringthe19thcenturythebuildingsnowhousingMaranto’swereinusebysuchdiverseoccupantsasachemist,aplumbersmerchant,hosierandamissionchapel.Duringthe20thcenturyitwasputtopopularuseasacocoaroomsforlocalworkersandtheirfamilies,alaunderette,skatingacademyandafterthegreatwar,aspremisesforamotorcompany.Achildwelfarecentreandanantiquedealeroccupiedthebuildingduringthe“swingingsixties”and,priortotherefurbishmentbyMaranto’sin1983,thesitewasusedbyamanufacturerofwindowblinds.
