tions. At our meetings, there’s excite-
ment created by our warm and friendly
atmosphere. Very importantly, members
are making business connections
through ABWA.
It’s my pleasure to have served as your
President during the past two years. To
quote Zig Ziglar, “A lot of people have
gone farther than they thought they
could because someone else thought
they could”. We have empowered each
other to grow personally and profession-
ally which is priceless. I am forever
grateful to have had the opportunity to
serve as your chapter President and
Trendsetter bus driver.
I wish the best of luck to our incoming
President Dominique Fruchtman and her
team – Bev Licata, Dee Ryberg, Laurie
Renner, & Kelli Cox.

COW TIPS
From DESERT
COW COMPUTERS By Dominique Frucht-

Technical Tips from Mark and Dom of
Desert Cow Computers
Do you know the best time of year to
buy a new computer? It's soon!
One of the best times to get a new
desktop computer or laptop is in July
and August when superstores and
Office Supply stores stock heavily
for Back To School.
Every year, lots of young adults go
off to college for the first time and
it’s common to send them off with a
new PC or laptop. Inventory is high
and sales are abundant. Some-
times bundled deals can be a great
way to stretch your dollar. You may
find a desktop with a monitor
thrown in or a laptop with a printer
thrown in. These bundles can save
you money and it’s a great way to
get more bang for your buck.

Coach’s
Corner
with
Sunny Simon
Dear Coach:
Well it’s here…summer in the desert.
I find myself a bit down. Unfortunately
I cannot afford to run away to the
beach for a month, or visit my snow-
bird friends in Seattle. Nor can I join
my girlfriends on a trip or a fun cruise
they have planned. I cannot leave my
business right now. Any hints on how
to get out of my funk?
Sometimes it’s good to be left behind.
As most of the clan gets out of Dodge
to escape the heat, they take with
them many distractions. I love my
snowbird friends, but admittedly I
look forward to the respite. My ad-
vice…set some 60 day goals.
Do some mini-reinventions. For ex-
ample if you cannot afford a vaca-
tion, focus on some financial goals.
Try creating a budget and tracking
every cent you spend for the next 60
days. Scour the resale shops for
good bargains rather than paying full
-up at the mall. Do you really need a
landline phone? Perhaps your cell is
all you need.
Feeling lonely with the gang away?
Connect with someone new every
day. You can do this by following
someone new on Twitter, expanding
your Facebook friends or joining a
new Meet-Up group. Leave a com-
ment on a blog site. Bloggers love
hearing from you. Feeling creative?
Reach out by starting your own blog!
Think personal development. Make it a
point to learn one new thing every day.
Perhaps the word of the day, try new
recipes or take an online course.
Finally, I recommend that during the
next two months you read The Happi-
ness Project by Gretchen Rubin. It is
thought provoking and inspirational.
You can even sign up for a daily happi-
ness quote at her website: http://

There are many different ways to set up shots when photographing people. In example 1, I photographed Barbara Larsh and
her granddaughter with a wide perspective to show a sense of place; this photo was taken at our ABWA meeting on June 18.
In the next example, I zoomed in to eliminate clutter and to isolate them from the background a bit. You still get the sense of
place but without the white table cloths on either side of them. I also had the subjects tilt their heads towards each other,
which gives them a sense of connection,
and the photo a feeling of affection.

Many people think that if they brave
the heat and come down in sum-
mer that they’ll get a better price on
a Real Estate purchase. Is this
true?
We asked Rosemary Woodward,
Broker of Bella Rosa Realty and
ABWA member since 2003.
“People who look at Real Estate here in the hot summer
months typically are serious about making a purchase.
They’re focused and “on a mission”. So while there may be
FEWER buyers around in summer, there’s still plenty of
COMPETITION.
This year, the inventory is very low, and when a property
comes on the market AND IS PRICED RIGHT, we often see
several offers come in on it right away.
So, ‘lower prices’ in summer? ‘Desperate sellers’ in sum-
mer? Not this year! The GOOD THING about buying a prop-
erty during these next few months is that there probably
won’t be AS MUCH COMPETITION as there will be in the up-
coming season.
My advice to buyers: (1) Be prepared with either your proof
of cash or your loan (2) have the mindset that if you find
something you like you’ll jump in immediately with an offer.
