• Dear brothers in Islam,• Let us be taqwa to Allah SWT by performing whatever he commands and leaving what he prohibits, may we attain success in this world and the hereafter.

• Studying is one of the religion’s demands. It requires commitment and determination to get it. 

• Therefore, knowledge and teachers have a very close relationship.  Islam puts knowledgeable people on a high rank, as stated in surah Al Mujadalah verse 11.

• Which means:• O you who have believed, when you are told, "Space yourselves" in assemblies, then make space; Allah will make space for you. And when you are told, "Arise," then arise; 

• Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.

• Dear brothers in islam,The theme for this year’s teacher’s day celebration which falls on 16th May is:

• Teachers play an important role as driving agents of change who are constantly creative and innovative, and have towering personality.

• They are the ones who always cultivate innovation in transforming education for the youth who are ready to achieve excellence in life.

• Teachers are able to make an effort to provide opportunities for students in gaining a more meaningful learning experience, creativity that’ll be able to enhance the student’s finesse in facing the real life environment.

• Nowadays, everyone is aware that being a teacher is a task filled with challenges.

• Among these are times constraints, the threat of social problems and to deal with the hassle of multiple parties.

• The truth is that the task as a teacher, from then till now, is filled with trials and tribulations.

• Besides that, teachers are also faced with the challenge of educating students and their various attitudes.

• Students nowadays are exposed to all kinds of outside influence such as extreme entertainment from the West and so on.

• Then, there are some of them who are influenced and swayed towards foreign culture like hedonism, that is, having extreme entertainment, sex, alcohol and so on.

• Some are preoccupied with social medias like facebook, twitter, and others.

• This makes the process of educating them harder, and it requires a long period of time.

• This phenomenon is becoming more severe when respect for teachers is eroded among students.

• At the same time, teachers also have to deal with some parents who does not respect the teachers well and are too defensive of their children’s offenses without carrying out any investigation.

• Such situations have some impact towards the teacher’s effort in shaping the children’s character.

• It is a must for parents to realize that they are the ones who play an important role in educating their children.

• The role of educating children should not be placed fully on the teachers’ shoulders, the teachers are only helping to equip the education process.

• Then, there will be harmony between teachers and parents who have the same agenda that is to produce children with strong faith as well as steady knowledge.

• Prophet saw said:دانھ أو • كل مولود یولد على الفطرة فأبواه یھو

سانھ رانھ أو یمج .ینص• Every child is born upon fitrah. It is his parents who make him a Jew, Christian or Majusi.

• Dear brothers,• Society must play its role by putting the teachers at their righteous places.

• The icon and role model for kids today need to be monitored and refined so that they will not put the wrong people as a model. 

• Teachers are agents of change who continuously convey knowledge left by the Prophet, who is the best teacher that we should take as an example.

• Allah SWT says in surah Al Jumuaah verse 2:

• Which means:• It is He who has sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom ‐ although they were before in clear error.

• Great upbringing by the prophet produced great people like Saidina Abu Bakar As Siddiq, Saidina Umar bin Al Khattab, Saidina Othman bin Affan,  Saidina Ali bin Abi Talib and the other companions who have unshakable faith, noble personalities, and great prestiges.

• History also proves that the generating of great scholars such as Imam Syafie and Imam Al Ghazali are the result of tarbiyyah and the upbringing of a teacher.

• Dear brothers,• The intensity of Sultan Muhammad Al Fateh mentioned in the hadith of the Prophet:

• القسطنطینیة ولنعم األمیر أمیرھا ولنعم لتفتحن ""الجیش ذلك الجیش

• Constantinople will be freed by the best king and the best army. 

• Hadeeth narrated by Imam Ahmad.

• Constantinople was eventually captured by a 21 year old king, a result from the upbringing of a great scholar who was his teacher.

• People need to realize the importance of having teachers in our everyday life.

• An Arabic proverb once said:)• "  م أن یكون رسوال "كاد المعل• The task of a teacher is almost similar to the Prophet’s task.

• Dear brothers,• At this time, we can see how today’s generation is more and more deviated from the Islamic morality and culture.

• Some students do not even see the teacher as a person who should be respected, some of them even dare to disobey, threatened and also hit the teacher.

• This situation is caused by the lack of blessing from the knowledge obtained by the students, whereas they are exposed to religious knowledge day after day. Where did it go wrong?

• If one looks back over the history of the story experienced by previous generations of pious forbearers, then we can see how the past generations is concerned with manners in studying.

• Thus, they managed to acquire blessed knowledge that ultimately produce a generation of Muslims who were feared throughout the world, including the enemies of Islam.

• This is a form of strength, the result from gaining knowledge. Blessing of the knowledge results from the manners of a pupil to his teacher, and one of the ways is too see the way he respects and honors the teacher.

• Dear brothers,• Saidina Ali r.a once said: “I am ready to be a slave to the person who teaches me, even a letter. If he want, he can sell me. If he wants, he can make me a slave, and if he wants, he can free me.”

• That is how spectacular the prophet’s companion’s personality is. How they honor teachers and have good manners, until Allah makes them the noble ones in the world and the hereafter.

• One of the manners of a student is to be humble in front of the teacher, although the teacher is less from a temporal angle, rank or property.

• Imam al‐ Syafie, though he was a very pious and high in terms of knowledge and morality, but when he studied with someone even on trivial matters, he will be as humble as he can.

• At one time he was asked about his humble attitude towards teachers, he said: “I degraded myself in front of them, they honored me. A person will not be honored by someone arrogant and who does not know how to be humble.”

• Dear brothers,• Realizing the importance of studying with a teacher, then the following should be taken as a conclusion for the sermon today.

• First: Knowledge is light to belief and faith.

• Second: The teaching profession requires patience and sincerity in facing the challenges and social problems of the present.

• Thirdly: Rasulullah saw is an exemplary role model who should be emulated as a teacher.

• Fourth: Cooperation between everyone, whether it’s the government, schools, teachers, parents, and the community needs to be synergized.

• Fifth: The relationship between the teacher and student must be built on respect and love to get blessings of Allah swt.

أعوذ باهلل من الشیطان الرجیم

Which means:O you who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful.

بارك هللا لي ولكم في القرآن العظیم ونفعني •كر الحكیم وتقبل وإیاكم بما فیھ من اآلیات والذ

مني ومنكم تالوتھ إنھ ھو السمیع العلیم واستغفر هللا العظیم لي ولكم ولسائر المسلمین والمسلمات

والمؤمنین والمؤمنات فاستغفروه فیا فوز المستغفرین ویا نجاة التائبین

O servant of Allah, remember that this world is a place for temporary lodging. Truly, hereafter is the everlasting and permanent abode. So let us devote to Allah for obtaining happiness and escape from the punishment of 

hellfire.

• Allah says in Surah Al Ahzab verse 56:

• Which means:“Indeed Allah confers blessing upon the prophet and His angels (ask Him to do so). O! You who 

have believed, ask Allah to confer blessing upon him and ask Allah 

to grant him peace.”

• Let us pray that Allah SWT acceptthe khalifah of Rasulullah s.a.wSayyidina Abu Bakr al‐Siddiq r.a.,Sayyidina Umar al‐Khattab r.a.,Sayyinda Uthman ibn Affan r.a.,Sayyidina Ali ibn Abi Thalib r.a.

• And to his companions who struggle to upholdthe religion of Allah, also to his unclesSayyidina Hamzah and Sayyidina Abbas r.a.and to his granchildren Sayyidina Hassan andSayyidina Hussain r.a., his daughterssayyidatina Fatimah al‐Zahraa’, his wivesSayyidatina Khadijah and Sayyidatina Aisyahr.a. and the other wives.

• Followed by his family, companions, followersof the companions and those who come afterthem from time to time until the end of theworld.

• O Allah, forgive the Muslims and thebelievers, whether surviving or deceased.

• O Allah, grant us guidance, strength,prosperity and help the leaders of theMuslim countries especially your servantSultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum SultanIskandar, the Sultan and ruler for theState of Johor Darul Takzim.

• To Raja Zarith Sofiah BintiAlmarhum Sultan Idris Shah,Tengku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim,Tengku Mahkota Johor; and thePrince and Princess, the royalkinship, and all Muslims.
