Modern technology and new product developments areredefining the way we work, and the way we clean. Takebiotechnology, nanotechnology and biodegradableconcentrates, for instance. These developments have enabledus to make a whole new range of natural, cost-effective andenvironmentally-friendly cleaning products available to ourclients. In 2012 we implemented the Masternaut Three XMobile solution which enables us to schedule work, managetime effectively and communicate directly with our mobilecleaning teams via handheld PDAs. This puts all theinformation they need right at their fingertips, so they canfocus on completing the job not the paperwork.
We have also been working with schools on the StudentInnovator of the Year Award to encourage pupils to explorenew ways of reducing harm to the environment. Are your cleaners really who they claim to be? Forged, alteredor out-of-date ID documents are used by hundreds ofthousands of people, yet few cleaning contractors are able tospot them. We can.
Our stringent security vetting procedures set us apart fromother cleaning companies. While other organisations settle foran enhanced CRB check, we understand that it is useless ifthe ID is fake. People who don’t exist have no criminal record:they’ll pass the CRB check – and give you a false sense ofsecurity. And, if they’re working illegally, there is a potentialrisk to the wellbeing of the children and adults in your care.
The shocking fact is that when we inherit staff on winning anew contract, we often find 20% of them have a forged orobsolete ID. That shows how complacent many of ourcompetitors have become – and how strong our securitymeasures are. We’ve invested in a unique four step vettingprocess, with industry-leading technology to verify documentsand identify individuals.
We work closely with the UK Border Agency and otherauthorities. And everyone who works for us, from boarddirectors to part-time staff, must pass an enhanced CRBcheck.

Julius Rutherfoord aim to make a positive impact on peopleand the environment in which they live and work. Simply bychoosing us as your partner you will start to reduce yourorganisation’s environmental impact from day one. You canbenefit from all that we do to be a greener organisation. Andtogether we can work to support our community.
Simple things make a difference: for example we use refillabletrigger spray bottles and concentrated cleaning solutions tocut down on packaging and reduce weight and therefore fuelconsumption. We invest in microfibre cloths which, use fewerchemicals to achieve the same result. Our systems also let usmonitor our vehicle positions and stock levels remotely whichhelps us to optimise fuel consumption across our network.
We do the little but important things like reporting drippingtaps and leaking pipes and sinks.
We’ve also invested to ensure 90% of our company vehiclesare electric hybrid or dual fuel. Sixty square metres of solarpanels now provide power for our head office which isrecycled itself (it was a Victorian tram shed) and we canintroduce you to some terrific ways to manage your waste ina sustainable way too.
Our community is important to us. Each year we divert 5% ofprofits to worthwhile local projects. We also like to work with ourclients, employees, suppliers andneighbours to create imaginative andinspirational projects for the peoplearound us. This isn’t compulsory,and it’s not just another form ofmarketing for us either.
