The AP602 is a unit formed by a white and pink noise generator, a 1/3 octave band graphic equalizer and a power amplifier. The AP602 has been specially designed to generate the signal that has to be reproduced by the BP012.
Thanks to its internal noise output and its external noise input the AP602 can equalize and amplify the signal from an external generator or insert in the reproduction chain supplementary signal processing equipments ( see 8 about safety measures and advice).
The AP602 screen displays all the information necessary to control it: type of noise reproduced, internal or external configuration, EQ on/off, playback status play/stop, volume numerical and graphical information, graphic equalizer curve, status information PROT (switching on and protection) and CLIP (stabilization and signal clipping).
The forced ventilation cooling system of the AP602 is controlled by a microprocessor that turns off the fan during 30 seconds after the signal reproduction is stopped. This is efficient for the background noise measurements or reverberation time measurements in places where there is not much noise.
The AP602 can carry out intermittent operation mode so that the equipment emits noise for 20 seconds and automatically pauses the emission during the
next 20 seconds. This procedure is repeated until the stop key is pressed.
The AP602 can work directly from its keyboard, by remote control or by a PC with the included software. This communication with the PC can be done through a cable or through internal Bluetooth®, wireless.
Bluetooth® is a Bluetooth SIG Inc registered brand.

Chapter 8 Safety measures and advice 67
Read carefully this chapter before using the BP012 or the AP602.
The AP602 is specially designed to fit the BP012. It gives the BP012 the maximum power it can handle. Using both together is the perfect solution and reduces to the minimum the safety measures to take into account.
8.1 Safety Measures and advice on the BP012 Loudspeaker
If you use the BP012 without the AP602, consult the technical data about the impedance and maximum power on the technical specifications.
Do not remove the loudspeaker protection grids; its cones could be damaged.
Do not expose the BP012 to rain or water splashes.
This equipment only can work with the accessories mentioned in the accessories section. In case that using a different accessories and that this causes a failure in the equipment, would not be responsible of this failure. Then the equipment will lose its warranty.
If you have to emit noise at high volume, it is necessary that you gradually increase the volume; otherwise the displacement of the coils could potentially damage the speakers.
8.2 Safety Measures and advice on the AP602 Amplifier
Whenever you connect the line output or input of the AP602 to other external equipment, do it with the AP602 switched off and consult the impedance and voltage levels data on the technical specifications chapter. If you also connect the BP012 to this configuration, be sure that all the technical specifications (see 7.2) are accomplished. If these specifications are not respected, this external equipment, the AP602 or even the BP012 could be damaged.
If you connect to the AP602 a loudspeaker that it is not the BP012, verify that this loudspeaker has impedance acceptable by the AP602 and that its power capacity is higher than the power feeding it.
Do not obstruct the air inputs and outputs of the cooling circuit with any kind of object.
The environment must be dry and dustless.
Do not expose the AP602 to rain or water splashes, and do not place liquid containers or incandescent objects like candles on top of the unit.

68 Chapter 8 Safety measures and advice
In case there is any kind of intervention and/or connection-disconnection of the amplifier, it is most important to previously disconnect the mains power supply.
The AP602 is protected with a transport case. Do not remove the AP602 from this case. This operation only must be done by qualified and authorised technician. Do not manipulate the output terminals to the loudspeaker when the amplifier is switched on, there are voltages up to 400 Vpp. There is no user or serviceable part inside the AP602.
The mains cable must not be near the cables carrying the audio signal, as this could cause humming.
To protect the amplifier from eventual over charges of consumption, it has al fuse. Should the fuse blow, it must be replaced immediately by technical Service department.
indicator appears when an internal protection is active: Temperature protection, overload protection, etc. It also can appear momentarily when switching on the equipment.
indicator appears when the maximum current or voltage values at the amplifier output are exceeded and the AP602 applies the clipping limitation. It also can appear momentarily during stabilization of the equipment when switching it on.
indicator could appear while AP602 is switched on and it will disappear in a few seconds. If not, try switching off the equipment, wait a few minutes and re-start the AP602. If the indication remains, contact your dealer.
When you start the AP602, the indicator will appear for a few seconds while the equipment is stabilizing. During this time, the AP602 is not operational. Once the AP602 is ready, the indicator will disappear. When using external equipment, always turn them on before turning on the amplifier and turn them off when the amplifier is off.
indicator is also a signal clipping indicator. Ensure that this indicator does not appear when working with high power levels. This could damage the speaker connected to the AP602.
If the sound would stop playing, turn off the equipment, wait a few minutes and then restart the AP602. If you still do not hear the reproduced noise, contact your dealer.
The AP602 is designed to work horizontally. Any other working positions should be avoided.
This equipment only can work with the accessories mentioned in the accessories section. In case that using a different accessories and that this causes a failure in the equipment, would not be responsible of this failure. Then the equipment will lose its warranty.
Always place the AN001 antenna in the AP602 to be able to control it with the MA001 remote control.
Remember to fold or to remove the antenna AN001 before closing the AP602.
Be especially careful with the folding the AN001 antenna orientation. Since this has a single folding direction and if it is not respected then the AN001 antenna could be damaged.
Chapter 8 Safety measures and advice 69
8.3 Safety Measures and advice on the connecting cables
If you are using a loudspeaker cable different of the CN0012, check that the pin-out is correct and that the cable width is 1.5 mm as a minimum.
When using line signal cables to connect the AP602 with external equipment (audio processors, external noise generators, …) check the impedance and the input / output voltage levels data in the technical specifications and also that the pin-out is correct.
8.4 General safety measures and advices
The reproduction of signals other than those generated by the AP602 or modified by external equipment are the responsibility of the user. In these cases would not be responsible of any damage caused.
Before working with swept sine signals please contact to .
When using the AP602 connected to the BP012, any equipment inserted between the noise generator, of the AP602, and the equalizer, of the AP602, must not introduce any gain or distortion. Because this can damage the AP602 and/or BP012.
would not be responsible of any damage caused by connecting equipment to other equipment.
Both the AP602 and the BP012 although they have been designed to be very robust, they should be treated with care when moving or handling them. It is specially recommended to always pick them up by their grips and transport them inside the carrying cases specially designed for them. Especially the BP012 due to its weight
