Welcome! Every Catholic should be registered in the Parish. Letters of testimony for Godparents and Sponsors cannot be given unless one is
registered. All parishioners should be active in parish life and be known to one of the Parish Priests. Stewardship (church support) is a serious
responsibility of every Catholic. We urge all parishioners to make regular use of their collection envelopes. When moving, notify the Parish office.
OUR LADY OF SORROWS MISSION STATEMENT We are Catholic Christians of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish who are conscious
of the plan of God for the salvation of all. We praise the Lord in our everyday lives by sharing our faith and talents with each other for the
continued growth of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Community. We wish to live the Beatitudes of Jesus and put them into practice in our daily lives as we
answer His call to evangelization.
December 18, 2016 - 4th Sunday of Advent “When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.” MATTHEW 1:24 Putting our complete trust in the Lord without expecting anything in return. Striving to put God first in all things and follow Him wherever He may led us. As we prepare for the birth of our Lord, pray for the strength and courage to be a model of discipleship, just as Joseph was.
Christmas Wafers The celebration of Christmas by American families is enriched spiritually when the time honored “Old Country” traditional customs are adopted. The father breaks the Christmas Wafer into pieces, which he shares with his wife and chil-dren as they sit around the table covered with a white cloth, under which there is straw, as a reminder of the Ho-ly Child’s Manger in Bethlehem. As the members share this “bread of peace and reconciliation” they wish one an-other happiness and joy for the Christmas Season and the New Year, mutually asking and receiving forgiveness for any hurts or offenses they may have been guilty of during the last twelve months. Wafers are available from the ush-ers or at the Rectory during office hours. Offering $5.00.
Christmas Spiritual Bouquets
All Masses on Christmas Day, including the Christmas Vigil Mass at 5:00 pm, will be offered for all individuals, living or deceased, whose names appear on the Spiritual Bouquet Mass

Place it in the collection basket or return it the Rectory. The greeting card and envelope are yours to present or keep. All intentions will be placed on the Altar during all Masses on Christmas.

A Worthy Spiritual Preparation For the Feast of Christmas
We don’t know why, but nowadays a falsehood continues to exist among some Catholics which claims that “There is no need to go to Confession any-more.” There is also another falsehood making the rounds these days stating that a Catholic may still receive Holy Communion after having committed a mortal (grave) sin without any need to go to confession first. These state-ments are absolutely false! Not only are these state-ments false, but the Catholic Church clearly teaches that anyone who knowingly receives Holy Communion in mortal sin has further committed a grave sin of sacrilege. In fact, the Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly teaches: “Christ instituted the Sacrament of Penance for all sinful members of His Church: above all, for those who, after Baptism, have fallen into grave sin...All mortal sins of which penitents, after a diligent self-examination, are conscious must be recounted by them in Confession...Anyone who is aware of having committed a mortal sin must not receive Holy Com-munion, even if he experiences deep contrition, without having received sacramental absolution…” You may also read about this in the Guidelines for the Reception of Communion, issued by the National Conference of Catho-lic Bishops on the back cover of our Missalette.
Thank You from Queen of Peace High School Alumni
Dear Our Lady of Sorrows, Special thanks for all your support with saving Queen of Peace High School. THANK YOU!!! It is truly a blessing to open our doors and continue teach-ing Catholic education in our community. Please keep us in your prayers. God Bless! Sincerely,

Our Lady of Sorrows is looking for people interested in becoming Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers. The more people willing to participate, the less often each person would be called upon to serve. Please do not take the stance that someone else will volunteer—more often than not, that attitude produces zero results. Won’t you please consider volunteering now. Anyone interested should con-tact the office at 201-998-4616.
