History of Mozilla

On 23 Feb 1998, Netscape Communications Corp.

created a project called Mozilla (Mosaic + Godzilla).

Mozilla was launched 31 Mar 1998.

Mozilla’s Mission

Build the Internet as a global public resource, open & accessible to

all.

Mozilla in the Philippines• No Mozilla employee based in the

Philippines.

• The Mozilla Philippines Community

(MozillaPH) is composed of

volunteers: students & professionals

since Sep 2009.

• There are 09 Mozilla Representative

(ReMo) in the country as of date.

• Hundreds of Firefox Student

Ambassadors (FSA)

across 7,000 islands.

having certain attitudes & interests in common.

•Very popular term in the open source scene.

•What makes a community successful (or

unsuccessful)?

The Mozilla Community

•The Mozilla Community uses, develops, spreads &

supports Mozilla and promotes free software and

open standards.

•Mozilla is a free software community which produces

the Firefox web browser.

• In the PHL, we started around Sep 2009.

•Currently, there are 09 Mozilla Reps in the PHL

under the guidance of a Community Manager.
