The performance by both musiciansis excellent, and the sound production

is true without a hint of knob turning.My favorite track is f ive, "CindyRedux" from Sor,rq.,enirs, which definit-ly communicates the fun that the per-formers must have been having whilerecording it. (Tioy 1062)

Consolations

Flutist Linda Marianello and pianistRobert Morrison perform Phil ippeGaubert's A-Major Sonan, the WidorSuite, Op. 34, Three Consolations byFranz Liszt, and Franck's A-MajorSonata on this 7O-minute recording

sub-titled "Romantic Music for Flute& Piano". The collaboration betweenthe performers works well and providesa true sense of ensemble music, asupp,,bed lo f lute wi th piano accumpa-niment.

Recordings of the Gaubert and Lisztworks are not abundant, which makesthis C.D. even more desireable. Theonly disappointment is that Mari-aniello never lets the music dictate herpassion. I kept waiting for her tounleash the full power of her instru-ment by means of a wider, faster vibra-to and more expression. That said, it isan excellent recording and highly rec-ommended. (MS 1303)
