• What is the rule of downs for professional football players?

Line of scrimmage

Interception:

• a ball thrown by the offensive team that is caught by the defensive team.

Completion

• a forward pass that is caught by the receiver.

Incompletion

Scoring

Touch down = 7 points ( at JSR) ( must be in the end zone)

End zone

• A ball becomes dead when:1. The ball carriers flag is pulled2. Any part of the ball or the player touches the

ground ( besides hands and feet).3. An incomplete pass4. The ball goes out of bounds

Dead ball

• Tackling- one flag must be pulled completely off of the ball carrier. You may only pull a flag off a person with the ball.

Blocking

• the defensive team may have their hands up and open. This does not mean stiff arming. Your elbows must be bent.

Team advantages

• Offense:1. Knows count ( when the ball is snapped).2. Knows the plays

• Defense:1. Can use hands2. Can use blitz

SAFETY!!!

• Avoid buttons and pockets. Shorts/pants that tie are best!!

• Make sure the flags are on either sides of your hips and attached correctly.
