A week of school spirit permeated the halls as
students and teachers geared up for the “Battle of the
Nest” on Friday, October 8,
2010. A crowd of more than
1,000 people gathered to
watch the football game and
homecoming festivities.
The evening highlights included
the parade float and the crowning of
the 2010 Homecoming Queen,
Meghan Gold. Earlier in the day, at
the pep rally, the 8th grade won the
float competition and the Junior
girls took victory over the Senior
girls in the powder puff football game. It was an event filled with
Eagle excitement!
FCS students presented
the fourth annual “A Salute
to Veterans” November
12th in the FBT Worship
Center to honor veterans and
military personnel currently
serving in the armed forces.
Over 400 veterans and guests attended the event. Principal Jim
Berry recognized FCS Alumni currently serving in the military.
Service men and women were recognized as students sang the
Armed Forces medley. The guests received a gift packet of home-
made cards, letters, and a journal from elementary and high school
students expressing love and appreciation.
A special highlight “What is a HERO?” featured three service-
men who are connected to our FCS family. US Army Chief War-
rant Officer Neil Beebe who had just returned home from over-
seas, and US Army Staff Sgt. Derrick Love, who will deploy
overseas next December shared from their hearts. The “Hero”
tribute concluded with a video greeting from US Air Force First
Lt. Blake Putnam, who is serving overseas. Beebe presented Mr.
Berry with an American flag that was flown in Afghanistan in
honor of FCS. The flag is displayed in the main school office.
The “Wall of Honor” was a display in the foyer that featured
photographs of family members of students who have served or
are currently serving in the armed forces. FCS faculty and teach-
ers worked together in hopes that this would be a memorable event
for the veterans and their families. It was a day of honor and cele-
bration!
FCS students of all ages participated
in the Fine Arts Department‟s annual
Evening of the Stage on Thursday,
November 4th. Two mini-musicals
were presented, Disney‟s Aladdin
under the direction of Mrs. Leslie
Evans and Into the Woods under the
direction of Mrs. Danette Davis.
Veterans are honored as students sing the Armed Forces Medley.

Kindergarten teachers and students shared a morn-
ing of activities and fun with grandparents and special
guests. The children sang a special song and presented a
poem followed with classroom activities and a trip to the
book fair with their special guests. Thank you, Grandparents, for sharing in
this special day!
STUDENT GOVERNMENT NEWS
On Tuesday, September 21st, our executive officers, along with Mrs.
Johnson, attended the SCISA Fall Conference at the State House. The
executive officers are Ginny Gause, Anna Watts, Chris Coker, and Seth
Harrelson. The
meeting was held in
the Legislative Hall
and student govern-
ment officers from
SCISA schools all
over South Carolina
worked on plans for
the upcoming year.
FCS senior, Zach
Hearne is serving as
the SCISA state
treasurer so he had a
vital role in conducting the meeting.
Elementary students and teachers
went on a Dinosaur Trek in Septem-
ber where they discovered facts
about dinosaurs and how we can see
if things are fact or fiction based on
God‟s Word. Students and teachers
engaged in competitions concocted
out of Rex‟s Café. Mrs. Brown’s 2nd grade class won the challenges and
was awarded a special expedition where they made dinosaur memorabilia!
Students continue on the EXPEDITION, Inside Out….
FCS students, like thou-
sands of students across
America, met at the flag
poles before school on
Tuesday, September 21,
2010, to participate in See
You at the Pole, a student
led event. Students gathered
in small groups to pray for
one another, their families,
our school, our community
and our country.
The Class of 2011 traveled to the nation‟s capital in November. They
visited a number of national sites including a scheduled visit to The White
House and the Capitol. While there, they were able to visit with FCS alum
Thomas Moye who is interning with Senator Jim DeMint.
Many of you make
great sacrifices for your children to be at FCS. Our
school provides a strong academic foundation but also
teaches Biblical principles upon which to base life. I
want to encourage you by sharing some key points I
read in a recent publication entitled 8 Benefits of a Christian Education
that was published by the Christian Law Association:
Christian Education is worth the price...God‟s command to you to
raise your children “in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Eph.
6:4) has led you to take an active role in choosing what kind of educa-
tion you want for your child...one where your child will be loved,
educated not only to be a successful person but also an excellent per-
son in God‟s sight.
Christian Education is a priceless investment...while your child is
being taught foundational Biblical principles upon which to base life,
you and your child will be laying up treasures in his/her life that will
never be duplicated.
You have only one chance to educate your child…..choosing a Christian
education is an investment in your child‟s life that will have eternal conse-
quences. We count it a privilege to invest in your child‟s life not only aca-
demically but spiritually.

Lasan Han from the graduating class of 2008 has been
academically accepted to West Point Military Academy in Highland
Falls, New York. He spent his freshman year as a knob at the Citadel in
Charleston and then enlisted in the United States Army and is currently
serving in Seattle, Washington. He will begin West Point next fall. Con-
grats, Lasan!
We would love to hear from our alumni. If you have news to
share, please email Sandy Bryant at sbryant@fcseagles.org.
UPWARD SOCCER begins in February. Registration opens January 1, 2011. The cost is $55 per player ($10
reduction from previous years). Registration is for 4K-
7th graders.
It is a deep conviction of mine that we must put "feet on our faith". In
other words, we must live out the Gospel. I encouraged the students to
keep their eyes open for a family in need, and boy did we find one! This
was a single grandmother who was responsible for raising her three grand-
children. She barely makes ends meet so we decided to help her in any
way we could. The students went above and beyond and purchased an
entire laundry basket full of clothes for the
kids. We had the privilege of delivering the
basket, and I got the opportunity to give her
the Gospel and tell her our motives behind
the generosity. It is such an awesome thing
to see when our students reach out and
demonstrate their faith in life changing
ways! Great job, tenth graders!
~Mr. Terrance Harris (10th Grade Bible)
For a month the fourth grade learned about birds in
Science. Mrs. Chris Bruno, owner of Pet Lovers
and a FCS parent, showed the fourth graders some
birds. Mrs. Bryant, the elementary principal held a
bird named Lovey. The class said that they had a lot
of fun. There was a cockatoo, cockatiel, a parrot ,
and some others birds. Thank you Mrs. Bruno for
sharing with fourth grade, facts and information about
different birds! ~Janalyn Berry (4th Grader)
The fifth and sixth grade classes
commemorated Veterans Day by
visiting the Vietnam Wall at the
Veteran‟s Memorial Park. This
portion of the memorial travels
and was in Florence the week of
Veteran‟s Day. Students had an
opportunity to speak with local
veterans and see the exhibits on
hand of military aircraft.
My third graders were given their first writing assignment to tell about
what was “In the News”. The students were given a newspaper to fill in
fun and interesting facts about themselves. Noteworthy news such as who
his/her hero is and why proved
very heartwarming to readers.
The students wrote about their
mom, dad, grandparents, or a
relative in the military. How
refreshing it was to read de-
scriptions of loved ones and
how the person has made an
impact on the student‟s life! Not
one child chose a sports or tele-
vision person as his/her hero!
Daniel Bunch’s grandpa left
behind a legacy of love for the
Lord to him. Daniel told how he
loved and respected his PaPa. The newspapers were put on display up-
stairs in the elementary hall for all to enjoy. Great work, third grade!
~Mrs. Jackie Smith (3rd Grade)
We will be starting FBT TEE-BALL for 4K -2nd grad-ers in March 2011. Registration begins February 1,
2011. The cost is $55 per player.
Thank you to a number of
FCS families who came to
Sonic on the Tuesday eve-
ning of Spirit Week to eat or purchase a refreshment! Sonic gave 10%
of the sales to our school as part of its Share Night program. The stalls
and tables were full of FCS families from 5-9 p.m. Mrs. Sheila Lang-
necker, Mrs. Mona Timmons, Mrs. Valorie McArthur and Mrs.
Sandy Bryant learned the ropes of being a „car hop‟! It was a fun
night….thanks SONIC for inviting us to participate!

FALL ATHLETICS
Uncertainty. This was my thought going into the season. As a new
coach I did not know what to expect. Over the summer I pondered over
a few goals and then shared them with the girls. The rest is history. We finished the season with a 14-3 record and a second round play-off birth. I am so proud of the girls
and all that we accomplished this year! They were amazing to work with each and
every day. One of our major points of emphasis was "TEAMMATES MATTER". We focused on the importance of team and group as opposed to individuals. It was awe-
some to see the girls buy-in. The biggest thrill came in the form of two spiritual high-
lights. Two of the girls presented the Gospel to a man on one of our away trips and he professed Christ as his Savior. The other highlight was one of the girls on the team
followed the Lord by being baptized. A job well done, girls! It was truly a blessing
and honor to be your coach this year.
~Coach Terrance Harris
WOW! What an awesome season our JV Girls had this year! With a group of
very talented 7th and 8th graders, our young ladies finished the season 15-3. I am so
proud of the way these young ladies played this year. They worked hard, improved,
and played together. The chemistry was great, and I really had a blast working with all the young ladies on the volleyball team. I can‟t wait to see what next year brings!
Way to go, Lady Eagles!
After losing eight players off last year's team, the Varsity girls had a year of ups and
downs. Every game the girls had to battle and work together. Some games, the score
did not reflect how great we played. We will be losing three seniors this year—Rebekah Ward, Ginny Gause, and Brittany Evans. We will certainly miss them
next year! Our Varsity girls learned a lot and gained a great deal of experience. Way
to hang in there, Lady Eagles!
~Coach Jenny King
The 2010 Varsity football season was both challenging and rewarding for the Eagles. The team was faced with one of the most challenging schedules in
SCISA 2A. Going into the season, we knew that it would be difficult facing
the best teams in SCISA with such a young squad. We felt like we had turned a corner in being able to put experienced football players on the field but when
5-6 starting players were 8th, 9th, and 10th graders, we knew it was going to be
a year to gain experience. Our goal was to give it our best effort, to never back down or give in and to never hang our heads. Our coaches along with the
players felt like, for the most part, that we accomplished that goal. Several
opposing coaches commented on how physical our kids played this year.
The rewarding part of the season was making the playoffs for the first time
since beginning our football program five years ago. We had the privilege to travel to Hilton Head Christian for a rematch in the first round of playoffs.
Most importantly, our players conducted themselves like fine young Chris-tian men this season, which was our highest goal. Our team verse was Mat-
thew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good
works. And glorify your Father which is in heaven.” That‟s what really counts in the light of eternity. We want to thank our of our FCS fans for their support
this season.
~ Coach Jimmy Miles
Our Junior Varsity Eagles had a successful season, going 6-2 with its only
conference loss coming from Williamsburg Academy in overtime. The JV team was young with the core of the team being 8th graders; however, signifi-
cant contributions were made by the five 9th graders. They will be missed
next year and we wish them well on the varsity level. Our accomplishments are strictly due to hard work, dedication and God‟s hand during the seasonal.
Special thanks to Coach Drummond for his time and efforts.
~ Coach Shane Ridgeway
