Anglesshallbeaminimumof1-1/2"x1-1/2"x16gaugeandmaybeofa unittypeconstruction.

Fastentosleevewith1/4"diameternutsandbolts,welding8"oncenter,#8sheetmetalscrews8"oncenter,or3/16"steelpoprivets.(SeeNOTE 4forclearanceandoverlap).

NOTES1. Sleeves shall be of the SAMEGAUGE or heavier as the duct towhich it is attached.Gauges shall conform toSMACNAorASHRAEduct standards.Collars shallextendapproximately3"oneithersideofwallorfloortofacilitatethejoining of thecollartotheduct. Incaseswherethewidthoftheretainingangle issuch thatitwouldinhibitjoiningthecollartotheduct,thecollarmayextendapproximately 2"beyondtheedgeoftheangles.SeeNote3.

2A.Duct-sleeveconnectionsmaybeoftherigidorfixedtypewhenfiredampersare installedin sleeves that are 16 ga. up to 36"W x 24" H or 14 ga. for size exceeding36"Wx24"H.

3. Whentheductworkterminatesatthedamper,retaininganglesontheoppositeside oftheopeningmaybereversedprovidingthesizeoftheopeningisincreasedby anamountequaltotwicethecombinedthicknessoftheangleandtheheightofthe screworboltheadtomaintainexpansionclearance.(SeeNOTE 4)Inthiscasethe collarattheopenendmaybemadeflushwiththeedgeoftheretainingangle.

4. Clearancebetweenthesleeveandwall/flooropeningshallbeamaximum1/8"per footonheightandwidthofsleevetoamaximumof1-1/2"(e.g.damper47-3/4"x 47-3/4",collar48"x48",opening49-1/2"x49-1/2".Minimumclearanceshallbe 1/4”.Perimeteranglesshalloverlapthewall/floorbyaminimumof1".

5. As with all joints, contractormust seal duct-collar connection in field, after installation.
