Foodbanks

• Why do people go to foodbanks?• Who goes to foodbanks?• Are they a sustainable solution?

Food poverty in schools

• Survey of teachers• 95% of teachers said pupils coming in to

school without breakfast• Half said this is because families can’t

afford to provide breakfast

Access to (healthy) low cost food

• Community based food buying initiatives• Food preparation• Access to equipment• Access to good value, good food

Other issues to consider

• Older people• Other vulnerable groups• Likely impact of benefit changes
