Hunting for a book?

And not sure where to start ?

This presentation will show you the quickest way to find a

specific book in UCT Libraries.

You want to find the book:

Atomic structure and periodicity

Does the Library have it?And if so, where is it shelved?

Open the Libraries web site: http://www.lib.uct.ac.za

Click on Catalogue (ALEPH)

ALEPH is the name of our online catalogue.

It contains records of all the books, journals, reports,

theses, videos, DVDs and other materials in UCT Libraries

When the catalogue opens up ...

Click on Browse

In the Browse screen ...

Open the dropdown menu that lets you

choose the index you want to browse in.

In the Browse screen ...

choose the index you want to browse in.

Andselect Title

In the Browse screen ...

atomic structure

Type in the first few words of the book’s title

In the Browse screen ...

Click on the TITLE

of the book you want

A list of titles will open up …

This calls up the catalogue record for the book ...

This calls up the catalogue record for the book ...

The Library fieldtells you which

Library to go to.

The Shelf mark fieldtells you where to look

on the shelves

are looking for …
