Being approach by the company B-Managementa trendy urban retail chain residing in London and Brighton.

B-Management wanted a new flexible module system de-signedn as the conventional shop fittings did not meet the criteriaof flexibility and design.

BRIEF:

The Clients wanted a complete redesign of their shopin Covent Garden. The trendy semi expensive clothingcollections demanded a perfect setting that not only reflected the items but also the customers.

The choice of solid oak shelves combined withrubber skirtings and raw key-clamp systems withglass shelves. A white resin floor is used on both floors.

A problem that needed to be solved was the flowtp the lower ground floor that under the existing cicum-stances did not prove well. The introduction of a dobbelt high “staple” drags the eye and the customer downstairsand connects the two floors.

BRIEF:

The constant need for housing in Londonand identifying a specific demografic groupthat is recognised as Urban Nomads. The Urban Nomad

For the Urban Nomad

7,4 million live in London

40 % of new dwellings to be build onempty sites

It is estimated that the number of inhabitants in London will increase with 810,000 by 2016

There are 3,100,000 dwellings in London

500,000 new dwellings to be build withinthe next 10 years. it is estimated that the number single dwellings is 290.000

What if we could meet the need earlier and use the existing empty sites now

... and create temporary dwellings for temporary tenants

We could prefabricate a 30 foot ISO con-tainer complete with interior, that could be placed and plugged in on an empty site. When building work would start on the site the mobile dwellings could be moved to a different site.

Using the ISO shipping container as a buildingcomponent is not a new idea neither is prefabrica-tion.

The idea here however is to combine the two and as the container is a moveble object it serves perfect for the concept at hand.
