taken from the full size berry image, the spaces and voids are clearly illustrated and layerd to show the depth of the original photo. imperfections and distinct random organization were observed and inspired the line drawings.

putting the line drawings in 3D, I focused on the connections of solid to make the void look inhabited and purposeful. the shadows from the solids reacting in the voids added an element that progressed from this starting point throughout the project.

after losing my way in the previous step, I looked back to the original image and was provoked by the linear element of the stem connected to the spherical shape of the berries. The void and solid were activated and never could be one without another, something that is noted with the connections of the different elements in this step. although the connections may be fragile, they keep the structure of both the berries, and this paper sculpture.

with the extended use of color, a piece of the original image came through that was not apparent without it. transparency and color combined created a spatial quality and depth. texture was also introduced in this step with the use of layering materials and colors alike.

in this final step, the use of circles and lines relates back to the original image of the berries and stems. the layering seen in the close up images show the complexity of the system, while the zoomed out view shows the simplicity in multiplicity.
