Annual Meeting Sets Forth Plan to Seize the FutureThe Gettysburg Adams Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 98th Annual Meeting last month, setting forth a path to “Seize the Future!” by unveiling a three-year strategic plan and naming new directors.
Strategic planner Chuck Ewart, of the The Ewart Group, outlined a direction for the chamber that works by:
• Focusingonourmembers, the lifeblood of the chamber. The chamber continually explores and provides value-added benefits to enhance economic prosperity;
• Beingthevoiceofbusiness to ensure our members have every opportunity for success and profitability, and are able to compete on a level playing field;
• Tellingyourstory to showcase Adams County’s diverse business community. This includes providing timely information that can help our members more efficiently and profitably run their business;
• Businessandentrepreneurdevelopment to ensure our smaller businesses have every opportunity for growth and success; and
• Developingtheworkforceandleadershipforthefuture to ensure our businesses continue to prosper.
Joining the board in January to help put the plan into action are: Lisa Duffy, Hanover Hospital; Melissa Ferguson, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gettysburg; and Stacey Green, Biggerstaff’s Catering. Incumbants re-elected to an additional term are Henry Grossman, TREYSTA technology management; Bryan Johnson, Brown’s Ranch; and Duane Kanagy, Adams Electric Cooperative Inc. Retiring board members are Norris Flowers, Destination Gettysburg, and Amanda Hollabaugh, Hollabaugh Bros. Inc.
The enthusiastic board leads the chamber in serving the local business community. Last year, the chamber was directly responsible for more than 5.8millionmemberreferrals, held 30+networkingevents and welcomed14newbusinesses with ribbon cuttings. We also distributed 10,000 copies of “Adams County Living” business directory magazine directly into the hands of potential customers.
More exciting projects are in the works for 2018, so stay tuned for ways you can be part of our work to make Adams County a better place to do business.

FreedomTransitUpdateEffective Sunday, Dec. 3, through May 5, 2018, Freedom Transit will operate on the Winter/Spring Schedule & Route Map. The Blue Line will continue extending service to the Adams County Human Services building located at 525 Boyds School Road and Misty Ridge Terrace, an affordable housing community in Gettysburg. The Gray Line will continue to operate its same schedule ending service at 8 p.m. daily and the Lincoln (Red) Line will end service at 6 p.m. You can view our Winter/Spring Schedule & Route Map online at www.ridetherolley.com.
Remember, we go in snow. Our 15N rabbitEXPRESS service from Gettysburg to Harrisburg will continue to operate on its normal schedule. Consider commuter bus service rather than driving in icy conditions this winter. Visit www.rabbittransit.org/express for schedules.
This time of the year is also great to consider purchasing bus passes as stocking stuffers or gifts for a friend, parent, neighbor or someone else in the community. For details, call 800.632.9063 or email info@rabbittransit.org. Happy Holidays!
