Field Report On Hurricane Sandy’s Visit To Brookline On Oct.29, 2012 By Helen Li
They seemed to be really serious about Sandy. School closed. Library closed. Utility companies keep sending alerts. Some grocery stores have run out of batteries, and, water. I’ve never really experienced a hurricane. Yes, I’m intrigued. OK. Curiosity finally beat me. This afternoon, I decided to make a “field trip”, in the name of research-‐-‐-‐ “What business will stay open on a hurricane day?”
Date: Oct.29, 2012
Time: 4:30ish pm
Place: Coolidge Corner, Brookline, MA
Street explored
Business open
See patterns?
Yes, I am more often wrong than right… Again… Just as always!
What business is more likely to stay open on a hurricane day??
For fun only; not for accuracy: )
However, even in the worst situation, you can always expect the best!!
NO, I don’t really mean cool ice cream & hot apple cider!
I mean…
this guy,
Who makes the best apple cider,
Who stays cheerful on a lousy day,
Who tells you,
“My dad would say -‐-‐-‐
This would be a beautiful day in
Ireland.”
-‐-‐-‐ End of report….Please take care,
and stay dry!
Btw, who can tell me why they asked you to get your flashlight
ready? When the power is out, I assume all you need to do is
drinking and sleeping. What is flashlight for?
