A WARM WELCOME TO 2020 KANGAROO VALLEY SHOWThe Kangaroo Valley agricultural industry is experiencing difficult times again this year with continued drought conditions yet it has also still united our community. This year we have taken these hardships on board and taken the time to consider our purpose as an Agricultural & Horticultural show and our involvement in the broader Kangaroo Valley community. We discussed the mission of the Kangaroo Valley A&H Society and made plans to ensure the continued and sustainable running of the annual Kangaroo Valley Show. We noted that our endeavours should provide a legacy for future Kangaroo Valley generations through maintaining and improving the Osborne Park Showground and by promoting an understanding and appreciation of rural life including animals, agriculture and horticultural pastimes. These endeavours are already occurring in facility improvements around the show grounds but it is even more obvious with our annual celebration of bringing the community together to showcase our best and this 135th show will be no different. We look forward to our beef cattle classes, poultry competitions, side show-alley, sheep shearing, wood chopping, hay stacking, equestrian divisions and much more. Whether you are looking for a glimpse into the past of old classic machinery and cars, shearing methods, a camel ride, sheep dog demonstrations or to cuddle a baby goat at the friendship farm, we’ve something for everyone to enjoy. The Show will commence on Friday 14th, the public holiday in Kangaroo Valley, at 8.30am until 11pm and on Saturday 15th from 8.30am until 11pm again, culminating in the ever anticipated rodeo. On Friday the John Walker Pavilion opens at 1.00pm, after judging, to inspect the results and Friday evening we have a competitive wood chopping display in the main arena for everyone to support. Saturday hosts the Official presentation, the Grand Parade and the newly managed Championship Dog Show. This year we have the large KV Children’s Medical Research Institute horticultural display to look forward to in the Pavilion. Each child at KV Public School is helping create this special display all themed “Kangaroo Valley our Home”. I want to thank our important sponsors that financially allow the show to happen and also thank all our committee members who work so hard to build the show together, new and old. It is this committee that ensures our endeavours come to fruition and I feel honored and fortunate to be part of this committed team. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
