LeadershipAt Anderson High School, I have shown initiative in a number of my choices. I show initiative daily in my classes by frequently volunteering to answer questions, participating in discussions, and contributing my best effort in class work and homework. I lead by example by choosing to work hard, live honestly, and commit myself to a drug- and alcohol-free lifestyle. I have demonstrated leadership by serving as a classroom aide and science fair judge and by representing my school in a variety of extracurricular activities including cross country, track, symphony orchestra, Spanish Honor Society, freeform debate, mock trial, and Evening for the Arts. Most recently in the spring of junior year, I was selected for Link Crew. I chose to participate because I realize how much I have changed and grown since my freshman year and I want to give back to my school by mentoring the incoming freshman.

CharacterI demonstrate character at Anderson and in the community. I thrive on the diverse opinions of others. I joined Freeform Debate Club to help create a respectful environment where individuals can debate relevant issues and share diverse opinions. I show character through my hard work and integrity. Ive been awarded AP Scholar with Honor, 4.0 Awards, Academic Excellence Awards, and the Darrell B. Wolff Award. Outside the classroom Ive shown character through my commitment to the Coney Island lifeguard staff where Ive served as a lifeguard for three years and plan to continue my commitment to public health and safety by pursuing an EMT-B certification next summer. Ive participated in many hours of training to become Ellis Certified and been involved in numerous saves, either as the primary or in an auxiliary responder role. I feel a great responsibility to the community whenever I enter the chair. Ive been awarded Coney Island Lifeguard of the Week and Ellis Platinum Lifeguard.
