Meet Your State Officer
Hello everyone! I’m so excited to be serving you as your Sec-tion 4 State FFA Vice President for the 2019-2020 year. I can-not wait to meet all of you and get to know all about you. So to kick that off, I will start by tell-ing you a little bit about my-self. I grew up in Shullsburg, and was part of the Shullsburg FFA Chapter, where I served as a chapter officer for three years. I showed market lambs and market pigs at my county
fair, as well as breeding stock sheep at various shows in the tri-state area. I recently graduated high school and will be attending the University of Wisconsin River Falls majoring in animal science. This year I hope to find out more about each and every one of you and make this year the most memorable one yet. Thank you ALL for making it possible for me to be able to serve you this year as a state officer. I could never have made it here without you and for that I am forever grateful to everyone in Section 4. THANK YOU!!!

Wisconsin State FFA STAR in Agribusiness
Zach Wiegel - Shullsburg FFA
Zach's appreciation for lawn care began when he was only 12 years old when his dad taught him to use the lawn mower. As he got older, neighbors would ask if he would mow their lawns as well--prompting him to start his own business. As the enterprise grew, Wiegel developed new skills. He went from pushing a mower and raking leaves to removing and trimming bushes, using a weed-eater, driving a riding lawn mower, spreading fertilizer and bark, and maintaining all of his equipment. Zach's extra services required him to invest in a Club Car Carryall One so that he was able to transport his equipment around town to the 22 customers he now serves. To get professional experience, Zach also worked for Green Escapes Lawn Care LLC when he wasn't tending to his own customers. This allowed him to create a college fund that he'll use to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison for Agri-cultural Business in the fall. The Star Agribusiness Award recognizes students who have taken an active role in owning and operating their own business.

Summer Activities
BASECAMP
At BASECAMP the state officers met with the past National FFA Eastern Region Vice President, Gracie Furnish to learn more about ourselves and what we could bring to the team. We had a lot of
fun learning about each other and getting ready for the upcoming year.
WAAE At WAAE the state officers were able to meet with many ag teachers from across the state of Wis-
consin. We learned more about agricultural education and the individuals who help make our organi-zation successful.
Checkpoint #1 The officers headed back up to Marshfield to meet with Gracie again to learn about workshop facili-tation, how to engage with members, and effective communication skills. The preliminary versions
of our SLW workshops were brought to life and will be useful in creating the final product.
Summer Activities
State Officer Summit
D.C. is what dreams are made of. The state officers travelled to Washington D.C. for the State Officer Summit hosted by National FFA. There, we were able to meet state officers from every state associa-
tion as well as Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. We made lots of new friends and learned lots of new things to bring back to Wisconsin.
Foundation Golf Outings
There were three different golf outings hosted by the Wisconsin FFA Foundation in various areas of the state. These golf outings help to raise a large portion of the funds available to the Wisconsin As-sociation of FFA. This year was a huge success and the officers met many of the people who make
this organization successful.
State Fair State Fair is always one of the best times of the year for State Officers. We got to work on the fair-
grounds in the Discovery Barnyard and Veggie Races. We were able to advocate for agriculture while being able to engage with FFA members who were exhibiting, participating in the band and
choir, and those who were just visiting.
Sectional Leadership Workshop
