TheRationale:For57yearsofourcongregation’s86yearsofexistence,Godhasallowedustoenjoytheblessingofaschool.TheschoolisclearlyoneofthegreatestGod-givenstrengthsofourministryhereatFaith.WethankGodthathehasentrustedthisschoolministrytousasheusesthisministrytotrainchildreninthesavingtruthsofGod’sWord.Wevaluethisschoolministryasithelpsparentsprovideasolidfoundationfortheirchildren.ManychildreninourschoolandmembersoftheirfamilyhavejoinedGod’sfamilythroughtheGospelmessagesharedonourcampus.ItbringsusjoytoknowthatwewillseemanyfacesinheavenwhoweretouchedbytheGospelhereatFaith.Itisnotanewthoughtthatourministryneedsmorespacetostretchitsarms.Formanyyearsourcongregationhasbeensearchingforanycreativewaytoexpand,usingtheblessingsthatGodhasentrustedtous.Inourlatestlandpurchase,Godprovidedusaseparatebutadjacentcommercialparcel.Thiscommercialparcelcouldbeusedtoprovidemuch-neededclassroomspacewithoutrequiringanyadjustmentstotherestofourcurrentcampus.Wehaveanopportunitytodevelopthislandwithabuildinganditsrequiredindependentparking.TheCommittee’sWork:TheShort-termBuildingCommitteewastaskedbytheVoterstobringforwardarecommendationforaneweducationalfacilityonthecommercialparcel.Forthepastyear,thecommitteehasresearchedseveralbuildingoptions,gatheredinputfromtheChurchCouncilandFaculty,hiredanarchitect,anddecidedonadesigntopropose.AfterpreliminaryscopingmeetingswiththecityofTacoma,thecommitteeisnowreadytorecommendadirectionforanewclassroombuilding.TheDirection:TheCommitteerecommendsthatFaithLutheranmoveforwardwiththenewconstructionofaclassroombuildingonthecommercialparcel.Thisstructureisdesignedtoincorporatethelateradditionofmulti-usespacetofurtherexpandourministryactivities.TheFunding:ThecommitteerecommendsthatthecongregationwouldbeginthesecondphaseoftheFaithInActionCapitalCampaign:“Growing,Building,Sharing.”Weplantoseekout“inkind”donationsoflabor,equipmentandmaterialstoreducetheoverallfinancingamount.TheCommitteeestimatesthetotalamountoftheprojecttobeapproximately$420,000atcurrentconstructionrates.TheCommitteefurtherrecommendsthattheconstructioncostsbefundedbyrefinancingourcurrentloan(balance$166,566asof8/21/16)withanadditional$380,000forconstruction.FinancingispossiblethroughThriventFinancial.Withoutfactoring“in-kind”andfinancialdonations,refinancingtheentireamountwouldaddabout$1,100toourcurrent$1,478/monthloanpayment,usingtheexampleofa30-yearARMwith10-yearadjustments.Pleaselookatthedrawings,consider,andpray.Let’smoveforwardtogether,asGodwills.

FutureExpansion—PhaseII:Inordertomaximizetheuseofthecommercialparcel,thecommitteehasresearchedandplannedforalateradditionofmulti-usespacetofurtherexpandourministryactivities.Thisspacecouldbeusedindifferentways,dependingontheneedsofthecongregationatthetimeofthebuild.Possibilitiesinclude:twoclassrooms,onelargeclassroom,statelicensedpreschoolspace,fellowshipspace,etc.
