Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC)

FLAC (Faculty Load and Compensation) is a Banner module being implemented to process faculty adjunct and overload payments.  Payroll records and EPAFs will be created using information stored in the Banner faculty assignments screen (SIAASGN). 

What is it?

Locked/Unlocked Academic area locks the CRN when it is ready for a faculty member to acknowledge the assignment.  This action can be performed while the record has not been applied.

Acknowledged Action the faculty member takes to accept the assignment and payment. After acknowledgement, a nightly process will evaluate the faculty load and process the CRN for payment if the total workload does not exceed the defined load limit.

Applied Records that have been locked and acknowledged and are under the load limit will be processed for payment.

Records over the load limit and approved by the campus president will also be processed. 

Faculty Load Limits Load limits will be evaluated and any assignments over the defined load limit will be automatically routed to the campus president for approval.

Important Terminology

Reduces the number of EPAFs that have to be manually created. Expedites the processing of faculty payments. Eliminates the need to redo transactions that were not approved in time. 

Better notification system. Simplifies the approval process. Each CRN generates one payment which makes canceled/reassigned CRNs easier to manage.

When should you start using FLAC?

As soon as your academic area is ready to start processing adjunct and overload payments for summer term 201630.

NOTE:  Summer Supplements will still be processed with EPAFs

What is required to begin using FLAC?Required information in HR Banner (HR Responsibility)

Employment Information ‐ PEAEMPL Faculty must have an ‘Active’ record

Faculty Action Tracking – PEAFACT Employee must have a Faculty Compensation Level

Faculty/Advisor Information – SIAINST Must be in an ‘Active’ Status for the term All Contract Types that will be used in SIAASGN

Faculty Assignment Information in SIAASGN: A POSN must be entered for each CRN (same POSN s currently used in EPAF).  The position budget will determine where the CRN gets charged.

A suffix must also be entered to form a unique POSN/Suffix combination for each CRN.  Please use suffixes R1 through R9.

Enter a valid Contract Type previously assigned to the faculty in SIAINST. Calculated Workload (contact hours to be paid for CRN)
