Fact Sheet
Development Agreement Background In May 2005, the city of Redmond approved Microsoft Corp.’s 20-year campus development agreement.
The agreement allows a total build-out on the Main and West campuses of 2,195,488 square feet of new building space,
the equivalent of two Columbia Center towers.
Acceleration Facts Microsoft will spend 1 billion dollars over the next three years on campus expansion projects.
Microsoft will execute roughly half of the development agreement by 2009.
Microsoft will construct seven new buildings and four new garages in the next three years.
Microsoft will close on purchases of seven additional buildings that were previously occupied by Safeco, Eddie Bauer and
State Farm.
The capacity for all of this space will be approximately 12,000 people under typical occupancy patterns.
After the completion of the seven new buildings, 700,000 square feet will remain for new construction according to the
development agreement.
The seven new buildings combined with the seven building acquisitions, and new leases, will provide a total of 3.1
million square feet by June 2009.
