Fan Page Creation: Step 2

◦ Choose one of the following types of pages..you can only choose 1 type per fan page.

◦ Local Business: Choose from the drop down list here…the type will appear in the search results in Facebook under your fan page name (company, non-profit, product, service, etc)

The business type will appear under your fan page name in the search results on Facebook.

How to create a page: Step 4

◦ Create your Fan page name – if you are a business – Make it easy for people to find you…use your business name, product or service that you sell. (Remember anybody can create a fan page using your business, so be sure to create a page right away to secure your good name!)

◦ Check the box that you’re the Official representative.

Other info boxes appear depending on your page type

Let others know all about your company

Include URL, blog, twitter, hours open, etc

Include info about your company…like a bio or About Us

The more info the better!

◦ Wall post – what visitors will first see when they go to your page, will also appear in their news feed/messages on their profile once they “like” you. Update this often, include news, coupons, what’s happening, links, sales, advice, etc. – Each wall post is indexable by the search engines.

◦ Photos – upload photos of your products, business, how people are using your products, pictures of company events, conferences, etc. Insert a description for each photo…visitors/fans like to know what they are looking at.

◦ Notes – works like a blog…write a little or write a lot. You can permanently leave a note here for your fans – works well with privacy info, return policies, etc.

◦ Discussion – also similar to a blog, but anyone can post a topic and write a response, others can contribute to it…appears on your wall, so everyone can see it. (Examples provided)

◦ Reviews – Yes, fans can provide a review of your service/products. Encourage your fans to do this. Makes you more reputable & validates your sales and marketing campaigns. (Depends on the type of fan page you have – “Company” has a review tab, others do not.

Wall, Photos, Notes, Discussion? What are these?

Events – list the events for your business **Note: Also create a business group on FB, so

you can email everyone about your event..cannot do this on your fan page.
