Monitoring Swiss Energy Strategy 2050On November 20th, the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) released its first progressreport on the achievements of the national Energy Strategy 2050. The report shows thesituation at the end of 2017 and concludes that the first miles of the road towards the 2050goals are going in the right direction and at the appropriate pace. These results confirm the importance of the power infrastructure and relevance of SCCER-FURIES activities to the achievement of the Swiss Energy Strategy 2050.
- The power supply of Swiss consumers is secured till 2035 as long as Switzerlandgets integrated in the European market.- 86% of the distribution network (total of 196 639 km) is cabled on level 7 (fully) and 5(mainly in the urban zones).
- The underground cabling, mainly reserved for the transmission grid, has reached the6629 km.- The annual public funding for energy research is doubled from CHF200M to CHF400M,mainly through large funding programs such as Innosuisse SCCERs, SNSF PNR 70 and 71,and SFOE P, D&L programs.
The detailed monitoring report contains around 40 indicators in seven thematic areas:energy consumption and production, grid development, security of supply, spending andprices, energy-related CO2 emissions, research&technology and international issues.Reed more about the report on our web page.A full report in German is available on the SFOE web page, and a shorter version (FR, DE).
