Man accused of vomiting on girl at gameESPN.com news servicesPHILADELPHIA -- A New Jersey man is facing charges after police say he intentionally vomited on an 11-year-old girl and her father in the stands during a Philadelphia Phillies game.
Matthew Clemmens, 21, of Cherry Hill, N.J., was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and related offenses for the incident at Wednesday night's Phillies-Nationals game. He was being held Friday on $36,000 bail.
Police say Clemmens made himself vomit on an off-duty police captain and one of his daughters after Clemmens' companion was kicked out of Citizens Bank Park for unruly behavior, which included cursing, spitting and spilling beer by Clemmens and a friend.
According to an account in the Philadelphia Daily News, Clemmens and his friend were asked by the 15-year-old daughter of Michael Vangelo, an off-duty Easton police captain, to stop cursing and spitting. A short while later, Vangelo said, it started again.
"One guy started spitting ... first it landed on the back of my daughter's chair. Then it landed on her hooded sweatshirt," Vangelo said, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.
After Vangelo reported the incident to stadium officials, Clemmens' friend was led out of the stadium. At that point, Vangelo said Clemmens said he would be sick and "put two fingers down his throat."

Drunk driver hits 9 pedestrians after New Jersey soccer match at Meadowlands StadiumBY JOE JACKSON AND CHRISTINA BOYLE DAILY NEWSSunday, May 9th 2010, 4:00 AM
A drunken Bronx man mowed down nine pedestrians, including a 20-month-old child, as they left a soccer game at the new Meadowlands Stadium late Friday night, authorities said.
"It was like a war scene - there were bodies lying all over the road," said a New Jersey state cop, who was one of the first to arrive at the scene.
As debris lay strewn around the side of the freeway, Frank Morocho, 21, fled the scene but was later picked up by cops in Wallington, N.J., officials said.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated, assault with an automobile, aggravated assault of a juvenile and leaving the scene of an accident. His bail was set at $50,000.

Stadium officials defend alcohol curbs Bergen Record 5/11/10 John Brennan
Officials at the new Meadowlands stadium insisted Monday that they have very aggressive countermeasures against alcohol abuse, despite an accident involving an alleged drunken driver leaving the sports complex after a soccer game Friday night.
Nine people were injured trying to cross six-lane Route 120 following a sold-out, scoreless match between Mexico and Ecuador.
Mark Lamping, the stadium's chief executive officer, said that 1,375 employees have undergone training to identify drunken fans — more than twice the number that had such training when the state ran Giants Stadium in its last year in 2009. And the latter figure of 580 employees was a significant increase made in 2008 after numerous complaints about crude behavior at Jets games.
"It's no longer just supervisors in guest services and security who learn how to recognize if someone has been drinking too much," Lamping said. "We train everybody, including ushers, parking lot people and ticket people."
