WHAT IS INTENTION ???
• Merriam-Webster.com defines intention as a determination to act in a certain way.
• As shared in “When your Relationships are Good, your Life is Good”, an intention is a clear and positive statement of an outcome you want to experience.
• An intention is a goal, or vision, that guides your activities, thoughts, attitudes, and choices.
Language features
To express intention , we usually use :
• Simple Future Tense
• Would like …
• Would rather…
Examples of expressing intention
• -I'm going to ...-I would like to ...- (Yes, I think) I will ...- I am planning to ...- I have decided ...- I'm thinking of ...- I intend to ....- My intention is to ...- Perhaps/ May be I will ..
Examples of Asking plans and intention
• We will try to make fortune cookies
• Will you go fishing?
• I’m going to go fishing
• We are going to practice baking cookies
• I would rather stay at home
• What would you like to do?
• I would like to cook rice
Example of expressing plans and intention
• What are you doing tonight?
• I’ll be staying at home
• What’ll you be doing tonight?
• I’ll be calling on friends
• What will you do in the summer?
• I’ll work hard
• What are you going to do in the summer?
• I’m going to read a lot
SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE
a. Definition
Simple future tense is the kind of tenses which is used to express or show a future action / an action that will occur in the future
b. Formulation
S + SHALL/WILL + V1 (based form)
VERBAL
Shall I and We
Will He, She, It, They and You
Note :Usually will is used for all subject

- She is going to cook a cake
- We will go to Bali next years
- The Moscow State Circus is going to perform in Cheltenham next week
- We will celebrate our anniversary by flying to New York next month
WOULD LIKE
• Definition
We use would like or ‘d like to say politely what we want, especially when making offers and request
Verbs that follow would like are in the to-infinitive form

- Would you like to listen to that again?
- I’d like to get a return ticket for tomorrow
WOULD RATHER
a. Definition
Would rather is used to show a choice form different options
b. Formulation
S + WOULD + RATHER + Verb 1
c. Example
• I Would rather live in a warm country
• I Would rather go to a different restaurant
• We would rather buy a new book
• They would rather stay in boarding house
