Addis Ababa (May, 2016)—
Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Dr. Tedros Adhanom received
Ambassador Yoram Elron, Af-
rican Affairs Deputy Direc-
tor General of Israel on
Monday (May 30, 2016). Am-
bassador Yoram Elron
acknowledged the excellent
socio-economic and political
relations between Ethiopia
and Israeli and stressed
that it is his country's
hope that the continued re
lations between the two coun-
tries be would strengthened
further ahead. The two sides
discussed on Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming
visit to Ethiopia and other bi-
lateral relations. Dr. Tedros
said Ethiopia would welcome
Prime Minister Benjamin Netan-
yahu and further added that the
Prime Minister's visit would
further bolster the political,
economic and social ties be-

ISRAEL CONTRIBUTION AGAINST THE DROUGHT
Addis Ababa (May, 2016) Ready-
to-use enriched food purchased
by the government of Israel
was dispatched by the National
Disaster Risk Management Com-
mission to the drought affect-
ed areas and food insecure
districts in Ethiopia that are
facing severe malnutrition.
The handing over of these
highly nutritious food, aimed
to assist more than 5000 kids
under 5 years old, took place
between H.E. Belaynesh Zevadia, Ambassador
of Israel to Ethiopia Rwanda and H.E. Mr.
Mitiku Kassa, Commissioner for National
Disaster Risk Management Commission .
Addis Ababa (May,2016)—The Embas-
sy of Israel observed Yom Hazika-
ron-Memorial Day at its compound
in the presence of Israeli Com-
munity in Ethiopia. The commemo-
ration began at sun down with
prayers, poems and speeches in
remembrance of fallen soldiers in
the different wars and fallen ci-
vilians in terror attacks.

FM's policy advisor, Head of PORAD,
Prof. Mekonnen Haddis as part of
preparations for the bilateral dia-
logue and political analysis and re-
search between the counterparts of
the two countries.

Addis Ababa (May, 2016) The Em-
bassy of Israel celebrated the
68th Independence in the pres-
ence of government officials,
Ambassadors and hundreds of our
friends, both Ethiopians and
foreigners in Addis Ababa at
Sheraton Addis hotel. Israeli
Ambassador Belaynesh made an
opening remark followed by a
speech by guest of honor on the
occasion, the State Minister of
Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Taye
Atske-Selassie.
Ambassador Taye extended his ap-
preciation to Ambassador Zevadia
on the event for the work she
has done in enhancing relations
between the two countries. Is-
raeli wine presented by Mr. Tal
Gal-Cohen, “Israel Wine Ambassa-
dor” was served with special Is-
raeli Mediterranean Cuisines
prepared by Israeli Chef Eli
Kishony on the event. “Ethio
String Band” entertained guests
with lovely Ethiopian music.

Zemene—Business Diplomacy Direc-
torate General at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, to promote the
next round of commercial meetings
between the two countries.
UNWOMEN & ISRAEL TO PARTNER
PROMOTING BUSINESS DIPLOMACY
Addis Ababa ( May, 2016)— UNWomen and
Embassy of Israel discussed areas of
partnership for women empowerment in
Ethiopia. On the meeting, Mrs. Leti
Chiwara, UNWomen Representative to
Ethiopia, Africa Union and ECA dis-
cussed with DCM Mr. Leo Vinovezky the
signing of an MOU which would realize
the foreseen partnership. Ms. Chiwara
traveled to Israel to take part in a
Mashav Conference after the discus-
sion. Our Mashav Alumni Mrs. Yelfigne
Abegaz participated in the meeting.
Addis Ababa ( May, 2016)—DCM Leo Vinovezky
welcomed Elizabeth Abebe the founder of
The Good Samaritan Training Center (GSTC)
in Ethiopian. The local aid organization
founded aims to eradicate poverty from
among young disadvantaged children in Ethi-
opia through vocational trainings. It also
shelters and supports 134 disadvantaged
children under its roof. The discussion fo-
cused on finding ways of to collaborate
with Israel in offering training and other
supports to the NGO.
MEETING MASHAV ALUMNI
Addis Ababa (May, 2016)—The first
edition of HoA-REC&N and TERI’s annu-
al flagship event, the Africa Sus-
tainable Development Forum (ASDF)
2016, began on 11 May 2016. The fo-
rum, hosted at HoA-REC&N Headquar-
ters, Gullele Botanic Garden, Addis
Ababa, Ethiopia, focused on Track II
diplomacy by providing an enabling
atmosphere that encourages people-to-
people dialogues and fosters under-
standing and collective action to

Bahirdar (May, 2016)— DCM Leo Vi-
novezky payed a visit to Bahir Dar’s
Mayor, Lakew Ayalew in early May.
The meeting set grounds for Mayor
Lakew’s participation of Mayor's
Int. Conference in Israel which will
be held in October. The Internation-
al Mayors Conference brings together
local leaders to foster an interna-
tional dialogue on creating smarter
cities.

INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
visited us. “Mr. Gaga” encompasses over
40 years of artistic career of Ohad Na-
harin, a choreographer who revolution-
ized contemporary dance . Another award
winning Israeli film "Congo beat the
drums" was also screened with the pres-
ence of the director, Ariel Tagar, who
traveled to Jamaica for an inspiring old
Reggae journey.
Both Barak and Ariel attended Q&A ses-
sions, participated in workshops with
young Ethiopian filmmakers and gave in-
terviews to the media.

and Ethiopian dancers and choreographers with
Junaid Jemal founder of Destino Dance Compa-
ny. The talking came after the screening of
the Israeli film Mr. Gaga in Addis as an Af-
rican Premiere, of the Addis film festival.

ISRAEL AT ADDIS ABABA DJS FESTIVAL
Addis Ababa (May,2016)—- Meeting with
Prof. Mulugeta Debebe, Vice President,
Ethiopian Civil Service University and
Member of Parliament met with DCM Leo
Vinovezky to identify steps to create
partnership for capacity building in
the Public Service Administration. Mr.
Vinovezky reiterated that Israel has a
lot to offer on these topics.
Addis Ababa (May, 2016)—- Israeli
DJs Ariel Tagar and Nitai Schendar
participated on a five days DJ
Workshop, entitled Addis DJ Festi-
val organized by EML Events. The
Embassy of Israel facilitated the
Israeli DJs participation on the
event where they gave trainings on
mixing, music productions, DJing
and also on digital-virtual stages
with the presence of Yair Mos.

BRIDGING ETHIO-ISRAELI FASHION AND DESIGN INDUSTRY
Addis Ababa (May, 2016)— DCM Leo
Vinovezky joined by the Embassy
cultural officer Ms. Azeb Yosef
discussed about Fashion & Diploma-
cy, with on Anna Getaneh, model and
community leader, the founder of
African Mosaique an African fashion
platform. The embassy officials
also met with Metasebia Yosef, the
founder and executive director of
creative consulting company, Muse
Collective.
The meetings aimed at creating a
link between the African and Israe-
li fashion industry and to increase
the involvement of Israeli design-
ers in the African fashion and vise
versa.
Jerusalem (May, 2016)— President Ri-
vlin meets in Jerusalem with Ethio-
pian Orthodox Patriarch, His Holi-
ness, Abune Matthias Asratetsion.
H.H. Abune Mathias, Patriarch of
Ethiopia also met with Israeli Min-
ister of Tourism, H.E. Yariv Levin
at his office in Jerusalem. It was
fruitful discussion dealt with the
longstanding relation of the two
countries. He also met with H.E. Da-
vid Azoulay, Minister of Religious
Affairs of the State of Israel.
