First and foremost, congratulations on your admission to Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University. You’re joining a dynamic university that serves the needs of perhaps one of the most important industries on the planet. Imagine how different our lives would be without the aviation industry. The aviation/aerospace industry is important to each and every one of us and to the continued growth in Asia. Take pride in the fact that you’re going to play a role in making this indus-try even bigger and better.
This newsletter is designed to keep you engaged between the time of admission and the start of our July 2014 intake. We have a lot in store for you in July and we want you to keep in touch with us between now and then as we prepare to bring in a diverse group of students. We’re looking forward to welcoming students from all five polytechnics who have been studying in both aviation and non-aviation diploma
programs. New in 2014 we’ll be welcoming both secondary school and junior college students in addition to part-time students. While you’re likely to see some familiar faces on the first day of class, I can promise you’ll see a lot of new faces as well as you prepare to begin what will be an exciting and rewarding educational experience with Embry-Riddle Asia.
Enjoy the content of this newsletter and I look forward to meeting you at New Student Orientation in July 2014.
Sincerely,
Matthew Flaherty

WELCOME TO OUR INAUGURAL NEW STUDENT NEWSLETTER!
As a student, whether you started last July, this
past January or will be starting your program in
July, it is your responsibility to know and abide by
the academic policies and procedures of the Uni-
versity. How many of you know where to find
what your student responsibilities are? What
is Academic Integrity? Are there Classroom
Rules and Regulations? Avoid issues by being
informed! You will find the University policies,
to the questions I mentioned, in the University
catalog at: http://catalog.erau.edu/worldwide. If
a policy is not clear, we will be happy to help you
to understand why the University has these
policies in place. I wish you a restful, relaxing
and fun holiday term so that you will be
energized and eager to begin classes in July!

The 2014 Singapore Airshow took place in February at the Changi Exhibition Center.
Embry-Riddle Asia had a booth and exhibited as part of the American pavilion. We
had a great time meeting with so many prospective students and answering questions
about Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. We also had a great time catching the
aerobatic displays, getting VIP access to the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 and all the
other military planes/helicopters from the Singapore and US Air Force. Embry-Riddle
Asia students also had the opportunity to volunteer at the Embry-Riddle booth. Our
current students enjoyed the opportunity to connect with potential future students
and share their Embry-Riddle experience. All-in-all, we enjoyed the 2014 Singapore
Airshow and we’re already looking forward to the 2016 show.

Embry-Riddle Asia recently launched our first video titled “Expanding a
Tradition of Excellence”. The launch took place in conjunction with the 2014
Singapore Airshow and the video was aimed at sharing current student
experiences with potential new students. Embry-Riddle Asia worked with True
Story Films, a long-time partner of the University in the creation of the video.
True Story Films brought a team of four from the United States to spend a
week in Singapore capturing over 100 hours of footage. One of our student
interns, Keith Chiu was a key contributor to the project’s success.
In looking back on the project, Keith remarked: “I had the opportunity to
do so much with True Story Films. An incredible amount of work went
into scheduling the student interviews, classroom b-rolls, city b-rolls,
aviation company b-roll and scouting of certain locations for the shoot
itself. As simple as these may sound, I was amazed by the amount of ef-
fort required to complete the tasks at a professional level. This was as an
exceptionally amazing opportunity as I got to go behind the scenes and
actually assist in managing a professional video production.”
Expanding a Tradition of Excellence was posted on our Facebook page and to
date has garnered nearly 5,000 likes! If you haven’t already seen it, check it out

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s 2014 Singapore Airshow Reception for
alumni and friends of the university was held in conjunction with the 2014 Singapore
Airshow at The Arts House at The Old Parliament. This event brought the alumni,
staff, faculty and friends of the university together for a night of networking and
reconnection. It’s always great to see our alumni stay engaged with the university. We
had over 100 in attendance of which nearly 60 were graduates from Embry-Riddle’s
Daytona Beach, Prescott, Worldwide and Singapore campuses. In addition to our
annual alumni receptions we also hold monthly alumni nights in conjunction with
other US university alumni groups.

Embry-Riddle Asia held our second annual graduation ceremony on
December 7th 2013. The ceremony took place at the Singapore Aviation
Academy. Of the 28 graduates, 13 of them graduated with distinction
or a 4.00 CGPA! The ceremony came after two years of hard work and
dedication in the MBA in Aviation degree program. The Guest-of-Hon-
or at our 2013 ceremony was Mr. Campbell Wilson, CEO of Scoot. Mr.
Wilson provided aninspiring address that provided our graduates the
opportunity to look back at the last two years knowing that their ac-
complishment will serve them well in the future. Embry-Riddle holds a
graduation ceremony each year and graduates from Singapore have the
opportunity to participate in both the local ceremony and ceremony in
Florida or Arizona. Graduates from the BS in Aviation Business Admin-
istration and BS in Aeronautics are provided with direct entry into the
MBA in Aviation and Master of Aeronautical Science degree programs.
