Top Ten Recommendations1. Check the GeorgiaStandards.org website for the latest resources.2. Increase the volume of reading for students – good mix of literary and informational. 3. Include at least 50% informational texts in your instruction. 4. Learn how to ask / write good questions that are text dependent, are worthwhile for class time, and require the student to “dig deep” for the answers.5. Use close reading appropriately. It isn’t necessary to analyze every text. Use this strategy to develop specific skills.
