Lesson Plans Effect Student Behavior

A well planned lesson will eliminate a majority of

behavior problems. NOT all, but most.

Common Core Standards allow teachers to be creative, for

example:

Science Standard: CCSS.ELA-Literacy. RST. 6-8.4. Determine the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other domain-specific words and phrases as they are used in a specific scientific or technical context relevant to grades 6 – 8 texts and topics.

The teacher has the option to choose their text to teach science

content

The teacher has the option for how the content is delivered

The Standards require the teacher to:

• Make meanings of scientific symbols• Understand key terms of the content• Other words related to the content

domain• Scientific phrases used in the content

When lecturing introduce the content a little at a time

Give information in 3 – 5 minute lectures, readings, etc.

Assign students an interactive activity with what you’ve just taught

Create activities that will require students to need more information

Focus on students Multiple Intelligences

Students are exposed to electronic games

They arise in the morning to play a game before school

These mediums have quick response times

Teaching may have to change to quick response times of burst of learning

Everything we teach can be found on the internet

They don’t really need teachers

Teachers can make it worth their while to

come to class
