Step 1 - No Cost Options for saving

energy

• Turn geyser temperature down to 60o Celsius

• Use less hot water – water heater biggest user

• Switch off equipment when not in use

• Reduce excessive heating or cooling in house

• Only include the amount of water needed when heating water in

a Kettle

• Physically turn off appliance switches or at the wall (e.g. a TV or

Hi-Fi), instead of leaving them on stand-by

• Make one-pot meals and keep lids on pots and /or bring foods to

the boil quickly on the “high” setting, then turn the heat down to

“simmer” to finish cooking

• Thick frost on chilling panels reduces a fridge and freezer’s

cooling ability

Background What is it:
