Definition: 2D image or shapes that inquire an image.

Shape gives you an idea what an image is if you were given a silhouette you’d sort of get an idea what the image is.

SHAPE

Definition: Difference between light and dark. The tone photography helps set the mood.

TONE

Definition: Meaning the way a surface feels or is perceived to feel.The texture makes your mind think of how the image may feel in real life.

TEXTURE

Definition: Color is variety of colors in a photo.

COLOR

Definition: the direction of which the line going.

When the lines in the picture

LINE

Definition: The scale of an object. The size would emphasize the design or even the way it looks like in general.

SIZE

Definition: The amount of free space or space taken up in a pictureThe space gives the effect that something is the only object in the image.

SPACE

Definition: A image that looks 3D from a 2D surface.

FORM

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

Definition: Balance can affect the size of the object, value, lightness or darkness, and the visual weight.

If there was no balance everything would be distorted and wouldn’t look as appealing to the eye.

BALANCE

Definition: The focal point of the image or the main point where the artist wants your attention to be.

The main object in the picture is where your attention is and without that there would be no where your eyes could

fixate on and you would be left clueless.

EMPHASIS

Definition: Difference or relationship between things in image like; size.Proportion is good when your trying to emphasize something or show a major object in the image.

PROPORTION

Definition: a repeating of any of the elements of design. Your eyes tend to travels with repetition in the image rather

than focusing on one thing.

REPETITION

Definition: Is the opposite elements (light vs. dark colors, rough vs. smooth textures, large vs. small shapes, etc.)

The contrast in photo gives the effect of what mood its is like happy or sad.

CONTRAST

Definition: How close things our together or where an object is at image.

PROXIMITY

Definition: Using type in an artistic way rather than in a paragraph form all the time.

TYPOGRAPHY

Definition: Is all of the elements in an image but haven't been taken out of the image (found elements)

Unity helps us see the image as a whole but we are able to take out elements from image as well.
