Dear colleagues,
On behalf of ESPGHAN, we would like to take the opportunity to thank you most sincerely for your participation in the ESPGHAN Eastern Summer School, Varna, Bulgaria, which is held in September from 15th till 17th in the Flamingo Grand Complex, Albena Resort, Bulgaria.
The Summer School scientific program is focused on the most recent genetic, immunological, microbiological and clinical developments in the field of pediatric gastrointestinal disorders, liver diseases and nutrition. It comprises of many lectures by the senior ESPGHAN faculty and lots of discussions on clinical cases in a friendly atmosphere.
This is the first time organizers of such an outstanding event have the opportunity to put together the traditional program aimed at doctors with an accompanying program with presentations for allied health professionals.
We are delighted to acknowledge the support of Medical University of Varna and of “St.Marina” University Hospital of Varna in the organization of the Summer School.
Albena is a major Black Sea resort in Northeastern Bulgaria. It is located close to other tourist, cultural and commercial centers (30 km from Varna) and in the same time remains within well-preserved natural surroundings. This is one of the purpose-built resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and has a unique architectural style. It reveals an extraordinary interaction of “human skill” and “nature”. Complex Flamingo Grand***** is located in the heart of the resort and at walking distance from the beach. Besides its excellent facilities it offers world famous gastronomy.
Varna is one of the most beautiful cities in Bulgaria, rich in history and traditions. The origins of this fascinating town date back to the 5th Millenium BC - the old “European Varna culture” is internationally considered the world’s oldest treasure of gold artifacts. Much later this region was populated by Thracians and followed by Miletians who did found the city of Odessos (Greek colony 6Ith century BC). Over the centuries Varna was subjected to the domination of many different cultures: one of the first were the Thracians, then the Romains, the Byzantines, the Slavs, Bulgarians and Turks. Now we are proud of its magnificent architecture - from ottoman houses, via Neo-baroque, Neoclassicism and Art Deco to modern buildings, romantic Sea Garden, numerous churches, museums, art and music festivals, universities, splendid golden beaches, rock phenomenon Pobiti kamani and the mysterious Aladja monastery.
We would like to thank to the sponsorship of all nutritional and pharmaceutical companies and to ESPGHAN for the chance to organize this important and useful academic gathering in Bulgaria.
