Easter Day

Easter Day Holy Eucharist April 20th, 7:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., & 11:00 a.m. We celebrate the day of our Lord’s Resurrection, when the bonds of death and hell are broken. Easter Day carries the joy of the risen Christ.

Easter Egg Hunt All children 3rd grade and younger are invited to our annual Easter Egg Hunt! Come join the joyful and colorful at 10:15 a.m. on Easter morning. Gather at the top of the steps. In case of bad weather, meet in the the Chapter House for directions.

Children’s Worship This is a participatory worship service specially created for children ages 4 years - 3rd grade with music, Bible stories, and prayers. Shortly after the beginning of the 11:00 a.m. service, children are invited to join a procession to Whipple Chapel; they rejoin their families at the time of the Peace.

Sunday Hospitality After services, please join us in the Fireplace Room for conversation and coffee, and cookies too!

Child Care on Sunday Mornings From 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., children 3 and younger are welcome in our Nursery (located on the 2nd floor of the Education Wing).

Sunday Parking This Sunday, additional parking will be available 1730 Clifton ECMN Office Building, Architectural Alliance parking lot at 400 Clifton Ave., and Walker Parking Ramp (pay parking). Street parking is also available.

Join Michael Summerfield for his reflections on the Pope’s Christian leadership and teachings. What does this Pope have to say to us as Episcopalians?

Tuesday Night Movies: Ma vie en rose May 6th, 7:00 p.m. - A heart-wrenching and heart-warming French story with English subtitles of an 8-year-old boy who tries to be true to himself and how it impacts his family. Host: Christy Marie Kent, author of Changing with Grace: Angels, Monks & Hormones.

Music Series Concert - Cantus May 18th, 3:00 p.m. - Acclaimed as the “premier men’s vocal ensemble in the United States” (Fanfare), Cantus is known around the world for its trademark warmth and blend and its engaging performances of music ranging from the Renaissance to the twenty-first century. No admission charge; a goodwill offering will be taken.

Tuesday Night Movies: Normal May 20th, 7:00 p.m. - A sexual transformation that challenges a family, a marriage and a career. It is all about who you are, being in love, and simply being normal. STAND UP Kickoff April 27th 2014 FINALLY!! We can start to think spring! Why not go all the way and think summer. And nothing says summer like a festival, a parade and a special music.

On April 27th immediately after the 10:30 a.m. service, come to the fireplace room for a light lunch and learn about the plans for Pride Weekend 2014. Our theme for this year is STAND UP for LGBTQ Inclusion!

Plans are being finalized for an exceptional event called Tuesday Night at Movies. These will be shown on four Tuesdays during May and early June with special guest hosts at each showing.

Pride Weekend will actually begin on Thursday, June 27th with the appearance of a nationally recognized speaker, Allyson Robinson. Allyson’s unique and distinctive background and the message on transgender issues she brings will provide an opportunity for education and understanding

On Friday a unique panel hosted by United Theological Seminary will present Out in Gospel - a “coming out” to family, to the church, to the workplace and to oneself. The event will be followed by exceptional gospel music guaranteed to get your hands clapping.

On Saturday, join the festival in nearby Loring Park for food, fun, and more music. On Sunday our featured guest will lead the Saint Mark’s contingent in showing Pride by marching down Hennepin Avenue. The weekend will end on a high note with the popular Twin City Pride Service at 4:00 p.m. with particularly festive music prior to the service.

Spring Picnic Potluck Sunday, May 18th at 11:45am, the Saint Mark’s community is invited to gather for a picnic lunch, conversation, and activities for all ages. The sit-down lunch will immediately follow the 10:30 a.m. service, outside in front of the Cathedral, and will be casual and fun. Conversation, games, activities, and bouncy house (weather permitting). In case of rain, the party will move indoors. Drop off a dish in the kitchen beforehand or bring to the picnic. Bring a dish based on last name: names starting with A-F main dishes (hot or cold); G-M salads/sides; N-Z desserts. Volunteers of all ages needed! Weekly Thoughts & HighlightsCathedral Book Shop Easter joy highlights the opening of a season of Resurrection and renewal in all directions. Our prayer books have gotten a workout, and, truth to tell, some of them are showing their age. For those of us who haven’t exactly memorized all of it, certain pages have been turned and turned again and again. Some of the Collects may be tear-stained. For some of us, the printing seems to have shrunk. For others of us, seeing a well-used Book of Common Prayer in the hands of a pew neighbor gives rise to wondering if we might do well to follow their example and spend a bit more time with such a book of our own.

Be not dismayed! The Book Shop has a remarkable selection of prayer books in answer to these dilemmas. There are fresh new copies in real or tastefully simulated leather (in various colors); several different large print editions; pocket prayer books for Armed Services members; prayer books bound together with the Bible or the Hymnal; BCPs in Spanish; New Zealand Prayer Books; St. Augustine Prayer Books; older versions – the 1549, 1559 and 1662 Prayer Books, and more. Beyond that, the Oxford Guide to the BCP is a worthy companion; other occasions may be served by C. L. Webber’s A Traveler’s Prayer Book or Jon M. Sweeney’s St. Clare Prayer Book.

If you feel moved to share the Prayer Book, they make wonderful gifts, in more ways than one, and appropriate memorials to departed friends. Those donating pew Prayer Books in honor of Tom Kane will receive a copy of his delightful cookbook as a remembrance.
