What do we do?

District heating and electricity

Electricity for the national grid (50 KV)

District heating for DTU and Holte district heating

Our electricity is expensive but energy efficient

In the bigger power plants some of the heat is wasted

The background for building this plant is that we have a legal advantage, because of our energy efficacy.

We are located here because we are closer to the heat consumers

Type: combined circle power plant (GT + boiler + DT)

Fuel: Natural gas

Start up time: 45 min – 90 min

Total efficacy. 88%

Price US$ 50 mill

Annual revenue US$ 20 mill

Why Combined circle power plant

The plant is small.

The boiler is small compared to a boilers with burners.

Lower temperature on exhaust gasses, which leads to use of less expensive materials for the boilers.

In total cheaper boiler - cheaper plant.

Production and consummation at DTU power plant

Annual electricity production is about 160 mill kWh, equivalent to consummation in 40.000 households

Annual district heating production is about 130 mill kWh equivalent to consummation in 9.000 House holds

The Natural gas is supplied by the national city grid and the consummation is about 30 mill Nm3 a year

Running pattern

Winter full speed

Spring, Summer and Fall. Start every day. Running when the electricity prices are best, charting the heat accumulator tank. (Kap. 300 MWh)

Monitored from KYV (24/7) (staff present weekdays 7 am – 3 pm) (always one on call)

Annual stop 2-5 weeks a year

Break down 1-5 times a year

Starting the turbine:

Boiler is ready for start up

Hydraulic motor drives the turbine to 2100 rpm

Flushing the boiler.

The limitation is the temperature on the first turbine wheel in the power turbine

Problems concerning the gas turbine

•Very exact tolerances makes warming and cooling time consuming.

•Materials have to withstand high temperatures

•Specialists are needed repair the turbine
