The following drawing lessons are encouraged, but optional. These will be reviewed for consideration to be incorporated into the mural or for another group project. Part of the imagery in the mural will include arts/culture (instruments/musical & visual arts) as well as nature.

● Instruments - Violin - Recorder/Clarinet

● Botanical drawings - flower varieties (tulip, wildflowers, sunflower, callalily)

● Please consider drawing one or more of the options included here. Spending 20-30 minutes sketching two times a week is ideal.

STEP 2- Draw the waist and fingerboard.

STEP 1 - Mark off the width and height of the violin. Draw a guideline for it. Outline two circles for its body. Define with light lines its general proportions.

STEP 3- Add more lines to show the shape of the body. Mark the scroll, bridge and fine tuner.

STEP 4- More carefully draw the fingerboard. Draw ribs of the violin

STEP 5 - Outline the tailpiece, bridge and tuning pegs

STEP 6 - Add more parts to the violin.

STEP 7 - Add contour elements, details & bow.

STEP 8 - Challenge yourself to use the shading techniques you’re learning to add dark and light tones.
