Summer Science

The sun makes two types of rays: UVA and UVB

• What’s happening when the your out in the sun?

UVB rays just burn off the top layer of skin

Summer Science UVA rays make our lower skin cells produce

more pigment to make our skin darker

This is what makes people tan

Summer Science

Darker skinned people tan easier, because they already have a lot of melanin

Fair skinned people have little melanin so they burn easier
