Progression of POPEI

POPEI evolved out of the Provincial Early Intervention Program (Provincial Resource Program at Vancouver School Board)

The Ministry of Education began to transition PEIR to an outreach model in 2012

In the Fall of 2013, the program was transferred to Richmond School District

In January 2014, POPEI officially started its work, with Lisa & Sasha coming on board

POPEI is the 9th Provincial Outreach Program (POP)

POPEI’s mandate is to increase educators’ capacity to support

all learners, particularly diverse and struggling students, in

the classroom.

Why We Are Here

How We HelpPOPEI's goals are to:

build and sustain the capacity of educators in BC

help encourage and increase effective instruction for all primary-aged learners

provide knowledge and support to help teachers of diverse and struggling learners

share evidence-based resources for intervention and effective classroom instruction

How We Help (continued)

POPEI's goals are to:

liaise with our District Partners from each school district in BC

research current evidence-based practice in the areas of intervention, assessment and literacy

connect with educators in BC to share knowledge and good practice in the area of primary education

We Will Help Districts By...

providing easily accessible online resources and supports

Research

This is a snapshot into some of the authors in our research library. Through our research we have selected our resources for our website

& formed the basis for our workshop series creation

District Partner Survey

survey

says!

This past Spring, we asked you to complete our District Partner Survey. We graphed out some of the results, which we’ll share with you now, and a little later in the webinar you’ll see how your survey results have shaped our website and supports.

Thanks again to all of you who took the time to share this valuable information with us.

There are two of us to support the entire province.

Our goal is to develop a strong network that connects us to all the districts in the province.

Our first connection to the province is through you - our District Partners.

This is an overview of all of the District Partners across the province

How We Connect

Communities

This is our reciprocal model for our

connections with the District Partners and the school districts.

Through developing our District Partner community and

network, we hope to establish a supportive

framework for learning and

collaboration across the province.

Connecting with your District

first sharing with districts

Please share with your districts that POPEI exists and forward our website to those who you feel would find the resource beneficial

Starting in January1 eNewsletter per month sent from POPEIPOPEI will also be emailing the newsletter to the Literacy and Special Education Contacts in each district

Website Concept

quick and easy access to resources:for a variety of different educators

self-serve

robust

As there are only two of us to support all of you and the entire province, we

have designed our website to be:

please watch the video archive of the webinar to see the philosophy behind the layout of the website & a bit of a guided tour

four pillars of our service &

support

Catalogue Overview

full catalogue of workshops will be shown

at the conference

Services Catalogue

one free face to face workshop per district :completion of series would be online and self-paced

no spray and pray - services are designed in a series

driven by survey results & needs of the province

Start Thinking About...

having district conversations & planning

:as our mandate is so broad - collaboration and conversations with several departments & colleagues may be necessary to determine which workshop series you may want POPEI to come and do in your district and who you feel should be in attendance and so on

:workshops would be open to any level of educator in your district (classroom teachers, helping teachers, EAs - anyone who you feel may benefit from the workshop series you've selected

You are in the best position to determine how POPEI can have the greatest, widest impact in your district

Thinking & Planning Ahead...

All districts are different

All your roles are different

You are the expert on your district

ProD days - lots of things already planned & ear marked with certain objectives

we would like to be collaborative and creative to help to support you this year

*

planning & discussing with others in your district to decide what will work for accessing our PL services

after you fill out the form, we will contact you
