This is our regular service!
Please do not miss our upcoming sailings: ASK US FOR MORE INFORMATION!
As we have announced, effective 1st July 2016, the verified gross mass (VGM) of each sealed container must be
reported to the carrier prior to loading. It is the shipper’s responsibility to communicate the VGM to the carrier.
Reporting of lower than actual gross weights for containers is potentially dangerous, regardless of whether the
maximum payload of containers is being exceeded or not. Therefore, to ensure the safety of personnel in the
ports and at sea, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) introduced an amended regulations stating that
the gross weights of all sealed containers must be verified, documented and obtained prior to loading onto a
vessel.
We are well prepared to assist you in meeting the new global safety standards and are confident that this
FAQ covers all possible practical questions. We will be available for you personally for further support
and questions.
Please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team in case of any further questions…

Stars on Rails – rail service to the Far East and back now offers a refrigerated unit!!
SOLAS Implementation – Effective 1st July 2016
In addition to the existing rail service from
Europe to the Far East and back, we now also
offer a refrigerated unit.
InterRail has taken delivery of a new diesel
electric reefer intended for use in multimodal
operations where rail is featured.
The cost of moving temperature-controlled
cargoes over long distances by road is ever rising
but rail is rarely an alternative since very few train
operators can provide a reliable power supply for
all-electric reefers.
This special diesel-electric power unit incorporates
a 800-litre diesel tank, offering road users a sole
and strategic advantage plus the opportunity to
carry goods such as meat and wine all year round.
For more information, please contact your local F&B expert!
Route (refrigerated unit):
Duisburg – China (Chongqing)
Further Routes:
1. Duisburg – China (Wuhan)
2. China (Wuhan) – Duisburg
3. Hamburg – China (Zhengzhou and Wuhan)
4. China (Zhengzhou and Wuhan) – Hamburg
5. China (Yiwu) – Duisburg – Madrid
6. China (Shenyang) – Hamburg/Duisburg/Leipzig
Freight forwarding apprentice, Nathalie Susemihl, with the
team from the a. hartrodt Dublin office.
www.fb-log.com
A bet on youth in our worldwide network!!
We are investing in our future!
In different offices all around the world, we offer internships for our German apprentices. One of the
recent examples is a young freight forwarding apprentice in the Irish freight forwarding industry.
“Working as a freight forwarder in Dublin isn't the same as it is in Germany. Well at least this is what I thought
before arriving in Dublin.
I'm Nathalie Susemihl and I work for a. hartrodt's head office in Hamburg, Germany. My ongoing apprenticeship
opened me a chance to work in another European country for one month. Since a. hartrodt runs an office in almost
every European country it was not easy to decide where to go but I chose Dublin. People might ask, why Dublin?
The office in Dublin was opened in November 2015. I've never been to Ireland, but I've always been interested in
the "Green Island". Although the handled cargo in Dublin (565.7 k. TEU in 2014) cannot be compared to the
volume of cargo being handled in Hamburg (9.7 m. TEU in 2014), it is still very interesting to see an auspicious
port growing.
Starting on the 3rd of May, I was welcomed by
four genial colleagues. I stepped into a very small
office compared to Hamburg with its 250
employees. But the size of this office created a
very personal and pleasant atmosphere.
I got a great insight into the work that is done in
the Irish office which would be similar to the work
handled in Germany. We use the same computer
programs all over the world and the workflows are
very similar, but the focus is set on the import
business in Ireland. For sure, there are also many
export shipments leaving Ireland, but especially
wine imports are a substantial business. In
Germany we handle lots of export shipments due
to our big automotive industry for example.
Although I do a lot of operational work in Germany, I got the opportunity to support the Irish sales department. I did
not only do administrative work, I also got the opportunity to go to some important events where I met various
great people.
I experienced very remarkable attributes of the Irish. The openness which I've not only encountered in the office
but also on the streets from foreign people surprised me in a very positive way. I appreciated the warm-hearted,
eagerly interested and helpful Irish character. I definitely like the Irish way of work due to its very targeted
processing and its calm and ease during work. This combination might even bring better work results than the
results of a stressed environment.
So yes, working in Ireland is different to Germany but I cannot say which way of working I'd prefer. I appreciate
both ways because everyone, in Germany and Ireland, works towards satisfactory results and a thriving business.
I am very thankful that I had the opportunity and I hope to be back very soon.”
The manufacture of food and drink products is Ireland's most important indigenous industry!
Our FBLOG experts in Ireland will assist you with any export & import operations of different
