FORMATION OF ADVERBS We usually form an adverb by adding –

ly to an adjective. bad = badly clear = clearly

Adjectives ending in –le, drop e and take -y

simple = simply terrible = terribly

Adjectives ending in consonant + y, drop y and take –ily

angry = angrily
