Safety has always been a top priority in our industries, yet each year there are preventable fatalities. These fatalities included employees, contractors, and those employed by upstream/downstream facilities. Most employees are aware of the inherent dangers that exist around mobile equipment such as crush hazards, sudden movement, and visibility. Facilities can install crosswalks, gates, stop signs, and strobes but all safety precautions require both the operator and pedestrian to be aware and observant of the surroundings and potential hazards. However, using and being around mobile equipment becomes routine, and the more routine a process becomes, the easier it is to take shortcuts or become immune to the ever-present dangers that exist. During this 20 minute webinar, Sheri Weppel, Director of the Professional and Technical Services Group for GP Strategies will discuss using new techniques to train employees can help increase visibility and awareness of the safety concerns. This includes how to design a SAFE training using 3D animation to simulate events to increase employee interest and comprehension of safety concerns including: - How can you create a realistic scenario for the learners to review - What types of activities can the learners complete to increase engagement - What is the appropriate level of feedback for a learner How can an evaluation extend beyond a multiple choice question - Sheri will answer these questions and discuss some case studies where this approach was applied.
