Just a reminder that our office will be closed Wednesday, December 25 for the Christmas holidays and will reopen on Thursday, December 26. We will also be closed Wednesday, January 1 for New Year’s. Wishing you, your family and friends a safe and happy holiday season!
Oh Christmas TreeMany Americans opt for live trees at the holidays, but artificial trees definitely have their benefits. Regardless of which tree you choose to decorate your home with this year, please follow these tips:• Use small lights. The heat from bigger lights may damage the tree or start a fire.• Keep live trees watered. The dryer the tree is the more likely it is to catch fire.• Do not overload extension cords or outlets.• Keep paper ornaments and those made of other flammable material away from
decorative lights.• Never use candles on your tree.• Turn off lights when you leave.
Filling Your Holiday CalendarIt’s easy to do, so how can we head off the busyness of the season?• Write down every activity you think you might participate in.• Decide what you can do or what you want to do. Prioritize! Choose what you want
or need to do and let the others go.• Write those dates on your calendar or put into your phone.
• Remember to pencil in some days of relaxation or fun things!
New Fur BabyIs Santa bringing you a pet this year for Christmas? If a pet was on your wish list, remind Santa to abide by our pet policies and check with us before he delivers it. We love our furry friends but have rules all pets and pet owners must abide by. Thanks, and we hope Santa brings you everything on your list.
Holiday Safety TipsThe holiday season is supposed to be the most wonderful time of year! In order to keep the mood merry and bright, here are some tips to ensure you are being as cautious as possible to create a fun and safe holiday season:• Do not leave anything valuable inside your vehicle.• Leave a light on while you’re out and about. • Do not run Christmas light cables through open windows or under rugs. • Do not let the mail pile up if you’re out of town; just ask a friend to pick it up or
make arrangements with the post office.• Lots of people have a “hide-away-key” spot; during the holidays you may want to
find a new one, or not hide the keys outside at all.
Holiday BluesDon’t let the holiday blues get you down. Whether you’re spending time with family and friends or by yourself, there’s a lot you can do.• Get on the phone and send holiday greetings to those who may be by
themselves. Talk about your great memories together.• Bake something you love. Is it cookies, a special cake, a hot toddy? Enjoy a few
hours in your kitchen making your treasured goodies.• It might be a good day to binge watch some of your shows or movies. Plan your
day, invite a few friends and catch up on all your favorites.• Go through some of your photos and write out what each one is and why it is so
significant to you. Your family will love that you took the time.• Find something significant to do every day – the possibilities are endless.
Boxing Day Boxing Day is a national holiday in England, Ireland and Australia, celebrated on December 26. The name of this holiday is somewhat misleading – it has nothing to do with the sport of boxing. Legend tells that on this day the noblemen “boxed up” gifts for their servants. From all accounts it is a day of doing good deeds in your community. Many still use this day to give back to the community by doing charitable acts like collecting food for the hungry and clothing for the needy. What a wonderful tradition – giving back the day after so many of us get so much.
