• Pressure & HW review

Homework Due

½ Sheet

Tonight’s HW

•Read and study 5.5 AND Chapter 6•Do #10-11, 29-30 (p.71-72)TEST on Newton’s 3 Laws (Ch. 4-5-6) next Tuesday(A) & Wednesday (B). EXTRA CREDIT due MONDAY!!!

Do Now 1. Take one and complete Warm up #1-2; 2. Take your clicker and set aside for

LATER.

3. Turn in snowman if you had to finish it at home

Goals for today… 1. Balloon Demo – fill out chart under #22. Finish the Pressure Demo worksheet– #3-9– We will regroup, discuss, and then complete

#10-12– Then, you will turn this in (instead of an exit

slip)3. FINALLY….HW review with game

PRESSURE is….• FORCE divided by SURFACE AREA• Weight is a type of force…. So sometimes, it is Weight divided

by Surface Area • Measured in PASCALS (Pa)

Please turn in….• Clicker• Worksheet (as an “exit slip”…but now)

With the people around you….• Brainstorm real life scenarios of pressure

HW Review Game- “Grudge Ball”• Each group gets a question. If you get it right they automatically

get to erase two X's from the board. You can take it from one team or split it. You can not take X's from your own team.

• Before you take off these X's, you have a chance to increase the # of X’s you can remove. You get to shoot the Nerf ball. – I set up two lines with masking tape. One is a two point line while the

other is a three pointer. – If you shoot from the two point line and get it in, you can take four X's

off the board. If you make it from the three point line, you can take five off the board.

– If you miss, you can only take one X off the board • If you lose all your X’s, you can get back in the game by answering

a question correctly AND making a basket (you earn back 3 X’s for a 2 point shot; 4 X’s for a 3 point shot)

• Winner = team with the most X’s at the end

QUESTION:

• What acceleration will result when a 12-N net force applied to a 3-g object?

QUESTION:

• What acceleration will result when a 12-N net force applied to a 6-g object?

QUESTION:

• A net force of 16 N causes a mass to accelerate at a rate of 5 m/s2. Determine the mass.

QUESTION:

• An object is accelerating at 2 m/s2. If the net force is tripled and the mass is doubled, then what is the new acceleration?

QUESTION:

• An object is accelerating at 2 m/s2. If the net force is tripled and the mass is halved, then what is the new acceleration?

QUESTION:

• According to Newton’s 2nd Law, what force is necessary to accelerate a 5 kg rock to 8m/s2?

What’s the NET FORCE

What’s the MASS?

What’s the ACCELERATION?

Pressure and SURFACE AREA are….

Directly proportional

Inversely proportional

Not proportional at all
