Day of the Dead Dia de

los Muertos

o Holiday celebrated on November 1st and November 2nd in Mexico, and in some parts of Central and South America.

o Day of the Dead is also celebrated by many Latinos in the United States.

o It is a celebration and time to honor the lives of those whom have died.

o There are many special foods and decorations prepared during this time.

o Sweet skulls made of sugar called calaveras are given as gifts.

o Marigolds are the traditional flowers

o used as o decorations.

The pleasant sent of the food and flowers is meant to guide the souls home.

o We will make decorative sugar skulls surrounded by flowers.

Project

o Our sugar skulls will be symmetrical.

Line of symmetry

o We will be using organic shapes.

Organic shapes have natural, less well-defined edges (like a cloud, flower, skull).
