HeadCoach’sCorner:HappyNewYeartoalltheDARTatSacramentofamily.ItisamazingthatthemonthofJanuaryhascomeandgonealready.Therehavebeenmanyexcitingthingsthathavebeengoingonthispastmonth.DARTatSachelditsfirstUSAswimmeet.Itwasagreatsuccessandmanythanksgoesouttothewholeteamofvolunteersthathelpedpulloffagreatmeet.Wereceivedmanypositivewordsonthemeetandmanyteamssaidthattheywillbereturningnextyear.DARTheldababyshowerforcoachCortney.Thankyoutoallwhohelpedcelebratethisspecialevent.WeallwishCortneytheverybest.TheSeniorgrouphasbeenworkingonTeamCultureandhowtheycangoaboutmakingchangesothatweexude“teamloyalty,andcommitment.”TheystartedworkingonmakingchangeatthebeginningoftheyearandhavesharedtheirthoughtsandideasinSeniormeetingsoverthepast4weeks.ThecoachingstaffisexcitedthattheSeniorsaretakingresponsibilitytoshowthetheirDARTfamilythetypeoflegacytheywouldliketoleave.ThecoachingstaffislookingforwardtotheendofFebruaryChampionshipmeets.Wehavethreetobeexact.WewillbeattendingSierraNevadaJuniorOlympics,JuanitaAllington(Clovis),andwillbetravelingtoCollegeStation,TexastoswimattheGulfSectionalChampionships.Goodlucktoallthoseswimmers!!RemindertoallHighSchoolswimmers:StartingMonday,February5th,youwillneedtoenterUSAswimmeetsas“Unattached”.TheonlyexceptionareUSAswimmingSectionalmeets.So,thoseswimmersattendingtheTexasSectionalmeetwillbeattachedtoDART.DARTREACHINGOUT:DARTSwimmersWantto“JustCureIt”ByEmmaPetersWeareDARTswimmersmakingadifferenceoutsideofthepool.AlexToandIhavebeenblessedwiththeopportunitytoco-captainateamfortheLeukemiaLymphomaSociety(LLS)Student-of-the-YearCampaign.Thecampaignconsistsofaseven-weekphilanthropicleadershipdevelopmentprograminwhichAlexandIwillutilizeprofessionalskillssuchasentrepreneurship,marketing,andprojectmanagementinordertoraisefundsforLLS.Wehaveputtogetherateamofelevenstudents,sixofwhichareDARTswimmers,includingSamFrazelle,EmmaHollenbach,SophieMiller,KaileeNabeta,HannahParulan,andGraceSchroer,whowillworkalongsideusinsearchingforcorporatesponsorships,organizingevents,andmorestartingMarch1st.Withanoverallfundraisinggoalof$50,000,ourteam,JustCureIt,looksforwardtodevelopingnewskillswhilesupportingtheLeukemiaLymphomaSocietywithourcampaign.
