• The laying period for a chicken is 3 to 4 years
• A chicken will lay 1 egg every other day during winter months
• A chicken will lay 1 egg almost every day in spring, summer and fall months
• When chickens sleep (or roost) they line up fairly tightly next to one another

• If you have the proper feed and water containers, you only need to refill once a day
• The best feed for chickens is a mixture of dried crushed corn sometimes called layer mash
